This thread will be popular in January. Should be renamed The thread of casual gym visits in between Stilton pies and emptying the booze cabinet.

Anybody at least attempting to not be a fat bastard this year?

I’m just picking a few sups from bulkpowders as they have a 42% off sale on everything. Will top up my protein powders and get some goodies as well.

    Yep.

Was planning on a run tonight but have got a proper heavy cold and cough.

Honestly, sounds lame but not making it up!!

Will start back gym and running properly next week, got a couple of things on at the weekend but will stretch my legs.

Put weight on over Christmas and it needs to be shed.

  7. Like @Commachio I very much doubt I will ever be a fat bastard and wouldn't actually mind getting close to it! That said, it'll be another year of some 50km walks and this year I'm turning out for a "veterans" football team <wah> Should really try and ditch the ciggies....

Got a b'tard of a cough at the moment, and in between trying to care for my old man and look after my old dear after her hip replacement I'm doing practically **** all exercise wise, other than coughing my way to a 6 pack.

Once all of this settles down I'll be back on the surf/cycle/swim routine. Managed a couple of surfs and got out on the bike a couple of times too over xmas, but I ****ing smashed the cheese, biscuits and chocolates over xmas. I always carry a bit of podge on me and the only way to keep it off is to do at least 4-5 session of a mix of the above each week. (the exercise, not the food)

Saw a couple of mates who I hadn't seen for a while over Christmas who I grew up with and we were all really competitve growing up. They have secretly been smashing the gym and are both now in better shape than me so I am going to try and do the gym **** 100% properly this year. Counting macros is ****ing long though and I have only done one session of fasted cardio but thought I was going to die so might need to find some alternatives.

I wouldn't go that mad but am tempted to give creatine a go, as much for quick recovery as anything.

    Any recommended product (supplier/brand) ?

My main aim at the minute is to run further/better ahead of when I can get back out cross country but still deffo want to do weights three times a week if poss.

Creatine is just creatine in general mate it’s cheap as chips for mono, just go with that for starters it’s proven to work.

Bulkpowders always do good discounts so I get most of my stuff from there.

I’m only fussy on BCAA so usually go with Dymatize for capsules and for powder I just nick whatever my Mrs is using.

    Think I'll look into it.

Last time I tried I got sidetracked by a nasty stomach issue and was wary of taking anything at all.
I know it didn't cause it but was bothered it could make it worse.

That's three years ago mind so should he good to go.

Anyway, as a side issue, having my first new year glass of wine! Tonight only though, just on a Saturday for now.

Going to do some sprint training tomorrow with my eldest. He is an unbelievably slow runner, it's startling to be perfectly honest.

First juniors game of the season this morning and it's like he's running in porridge. Not good for a supposed full back, gets skinned all the time.

Will do me no harm to join in either!

Generally if you take creatine and don’t hydrate enough there’s no real side effects other than it’ll show too much creatinine in your blood if you got tested. Long term it can crystallise and cause minor issues but off-cycling will fix that in a few days.

Dymatize is a premium brand mate, the taste is basically all the difference is. It used to be worth the extra when the low budget stuff was hard to mix and it ended up lumpy but most have it down now.

Not sure if that company sells it. I buy it here in Spain.

If you google it, you’ll find it.
