https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.bbc.co.uk/sport/amp/football/45071101 Yes He doesn’t say viera paid for Bamford... but join the dots... what do you think balance the books means? ...and note how viera was sold against bielsa’s wishes... also note his comment about 11 sports being a separate business but how he has to manage his investments in each business carefully. There is obviously a knock on effect from what’s happened there. Just because we got 10m from the 49ers doesn’t mean we had to spend it on players whose headline price tags = £10m. That’s PR and press talk for the fans about investing in the team. If we spend 10m on a top goalie and Ibai Gomez i’ll Be straight on here delighted to eat my humble
You said we couldn't afford £3 million, now it's £10 million,I expect somewhere in between or loan to buy if we get promoted.
Basically says it was too good to turn down for a player not ready for the first 11 and I agree. Also says it may allow us to strengthen more, which we haven't done yet.
The 3m was kiwi, fella. More than one person disagreeing with you on this thread The £10m was your figure for unspent 49ers investment
No it wasn't,I said we didn't spend the full £10 million, not there was £10 million left to spend also possible £5-6 million of money from Siaz summer sale may be made available. Not to mention the 2-2.5 million from extra gate reciepts. You're a glass half empty person,I'm a glass half full. PS most of the glass half empty people said we were going down in August
Just curious. Where did it ever say the 10m was for players. I think that was fans putting two and two together and coming up with ten
Where did it say it wasn't,glass half full, glass half empty. Glass half full is top of the league, despite none of last seasons players being good enough according to some pre season. I take that back it did say, money will go straight into transfer fund.
Talking about transfer funds. Why spend best part of 5m on a keeper when we could get an amazing one on loan? That money could buy a decent outfield player
Newcastle have said they aren't selling Darlow,so we may be getting a loan one,as we don't say who we are signing, will probably be people never linked with us previously.
I’m glass half full this year fella. Nailed my colours to the mast that we were going up a few months ago and haven’t waivered from it. We’re consistently better than the opposition and the league table isn’t lying. I did however say bielsa was a big gamble that could be inspired or a disaster.. and I did say you can’t Polish a turd. Clearly you can and he has. However, I have good reason to believe we’re a bit hard up!
While I don't think for 1 minute we will spend £15-20 million in this window,I do think £5-10 is possible,in fact I think rad would be crazy not to,if Bielsa wants it.
If we actually spend £3m+ in this window, I’ll gladly eat humble pie, but everything coming out of the club suggests we’re not in an outstanding position of financial strength. Saying Radz’ investment in Eleven Sports has no impact on Leeds United smacks of financial naivety... I don’t want to talk down to anyone on here but how can you not see how it would have a knock on effect? I think we’ll get a keeper (more than likely a loan, and no issues with that), and potentially a winger/Saiz replacement dependent on Brown’s fitness. Bielsa himself was the one pushing for the small squad supplemented by youth, and it’s all gone well so far. We’ve lost Blackman and Saiz from that squad, so I’d imagine it’ll be two in (unless Brown is Saiz’s replacement). Saiz’s replacement (or lack thereof) will really provide more clarity with regards to our financial situation.
His companies are ltd companies, one may go bust while another may make £50 million, they each stand on their own,as do Leeds.
But if one goes bust, that impacts on his financial position, which in turn impacts the level of capital he can invest in other companies, or Leeds?
Just a small point, chaps. It could well be that Bielsa has handed Orta a shopping list, but you've got to bear in mind that the selling clubs might simply not want to sell, or they hike up the prices to an unrealistic level. Basically, I'm saying that the difference between intended signings & actual signings might be well out of our control. But I'm sure Radz & Orta will get the blame no matter what happens. Unfairly, probably.
Can I just say I agree with everything Milky has said & Chesh has said and everyone else on the transfer/cash debate. Facts are these: Nobody has mentioned a war chest for the first time ever None of us know how funds are or whats happening ehind the scenes therefore pointless any of us falling out until we find out what happens. Im now doing gin and tonic after 2 glasses of red looking at my team top of the league. Oooops a burp there, lets all chill until next week shall we
My memory may be playing tricks on me but wasn't the 49's deal set up so they bought more shares off Radz every year we don't get promoted? I seem to remember querying whether it meant there was a takeover deal in place if / when we did go up?
