Bowen was never going to happen, ridiculous rumour in the first place. Where the **** are we getting £10m+ from (unless Roofe is sold)? Gomez has slightly more legs but only because of the Bielsa connection. Won’t be able to afford the fee, and won’t be able to compete with wages. Maybe something we’re keeping an eye on in case of promotion, I’d be shocked if we signed him in January, though.
Maybe called marca Spanish press reporting today he's signed for bilbao along with llorente(spurs) Also he's signed for real sociedad (arch enemies of bilbao) Also sporting (portugal) are interested. Bottom line, journos are bored. Wait and see.
Alaves won't be paying big wages, and can sign a pre contract to sign for free in the summer,so unless Alaves are going for a trophy, sure they will let go for about £3 million.
Alaves might not, but Bilbao and Leicester will. £3m is still £3m more than we have to spend - we’re in the position of sell-to-buy, and we simply don’t have any expendable players in the squad who could raise that kind of money.
Who says we don't have £3 million to spend ? Only spent about £3 million of the £10 invested by the yanks and crowds up 3-4,000 per home game another £100,000 income per match. That's £2.3 million over the season plus any other money they spend on food etc.
The owner said Need to sell players to break even etc. Made it pretty clear that viera paid for Bamford. With his other uk business in trouble it doesn’t look like he has spare cash of his own to chuck in. If we had cash Roofe and klich and prob bpf would have new contracts by now. You would hope he could go to investors now say look at the league we just need to strengthen squad to stay their and there’d be a queue.... but that would dilute his share and he may think we’ll get there anyway. We’ll find out soon enough.
Viera was sold after we bought Bamford,we didn't know they were going to buy him,was too good to turn down, but I think it was £7 million we didn't plan for. The 3 players we need new contracts for, were probably left till now because there was large question marks over them being good enough, last season they were borderline at best.
Agree with all of this and would add that I thought Roofe wasnt good enough last season. I was wrong, badly wrong, so the club heirechy will also have needed assuring he was good enough and now even more so because why give a player a long contract with an uplift in wages if he wont be good enough for the Prem. I think the club now know and think he deserves to be on a parr with Bamford now. I think the new contract is being drawn up as we speak
Radz basically came out and said that we only managed to sign Bamford because Vieira left. His company is in financial difficulty. We can’t commit to a new contract for Roofe. We don’t have the money to throw around like other clubs, unfortunately.
Vieira left one day after Bamford joined, you really telling me the club didn’t know he was going before that?
Show me where he said that,we were in negotiations to buy Bamford, before we knew we were selling Viera,he said we need to balance the books, after the sale, not we have no money or we needed the money to buy Bamford,we have not spent the £10 million invested by the Yanks and the owners uk tv business has nothing to do with Leeds. The Roofe contract is probably on hold waiting to see which league we will be in,next season as I'm sure he will want a big pay rise.
Remember Jansson talking about his future after the world cup,but not seen us trying to sell him. Just found an interview with Jansson from August,he said we turned down £10 million offer,us not him.
I know the official order of the purchases fella and i’ve seen the quotes about our financial situation from the chairman to justify the sale of viera. He basically said we were a selling club. And if you want to believe the ‘probably’ about Roofe and klich in particular when they were picked as starters by bielsa and were top performers then feel free to. Roofe has meant to have talks in October and it went quiet amid comments from his camp that the club weren’t ready to up his terms... he’s on way less than Bamford. There have been rumours around the club that finances are tight. If we spend 10m up front in January you might be proved right and no one will be happier than me if it’s on quality players. I’m expecting cheapies or Loans unless we hear of further investment. Doesn’t have to mean they won’t be any good...As long as bielsa is happy with them I don’t really Care.
Milky serious question. We all know that when a club buys a player the payment is spread....... so if we sign a player on a 3 year deal our payment is spread over 3 years. We did some 4 year deals last year does that mean our payments are spread over 4 years or is that to make it tougher for clubs to buy as the value stays longer? It could explain why we gave players 4 year deals as £3m over 4 years is £250k per year cheaper than 3 years
