It is no wonder that Baz wants to get the Red Lion up and running, as I think he can see what some of us on here thought, Sarries will be with us for some time yet. I think Barnet FC have every right to feel agrieved. They were asked to keep quiet over this application on the basis that some land would be found for them, but now, sorry we will not be able to help after all. If I was the chairman I would be creating a great deal of noise, and not just on the club's website. How can such astute business men as the ones behind Sarries get it so wrong. The new statium was going to be ready for the start of the season, so it costs them more to come cap in hand to Watford. The initial costs for the new facility was £10m, this is now £18m. There is still no certainty that they will get planning pemission and if it is called in for a review it could put the whole scheme back by months. Could this even endanger our new pitch, or will Baz stick to his guns about Sarries being out by next summer?
all this and more from the live soap opera at vicarage road! Really feel that Barnet FC have been screwed over big time!
Ãú gerðir! I like this site as I practice writing english. It is funny to have to write in language on an english website.
i think that's tragic..and feel for Barnet. I agree with Chris though, Sarries seem to have just taken the opportunity that's been made available by the council..
Sarries rugby club has money Barnet fc dont who gets the land ! even if sarries havent been in Barnet before last year and Barnet fc I think is over 100 years old! its plain wrong and it smells decidely fishy!
In fairness to Barnet Council, I've never seen a proposal for the football club to plough £10m or £18m into something that the community could use for 340 days of the year. That doesn't make the way that Barnet have been treated any less wrong, just sayin' that things aren't as black-and-white as is being made out.
For about half that sum we could have a new stand at the Vic plus a pitch capable of supporting both soccer and rugger, and a refurbished Red Lion.... if Sarries do not get planning permission in Barnet (quite likely) could this be their plan "B" ?
Especially if we have started work on the red lion already!! I would advise caution jumping into bed with Saracens though I dont trust the whole devious SA money men angle!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x7lQjfBEMYw Link is for Sordell's first goal for the U21s, and not wishing to ruin it for everyone, but it is a beauty from about 25-30 yards with his left foot, off the inside of the post. Well worth watching.
Hi and welcome to the board DLATFP yep its a great goal unfortunately there are links already ! It was that good it has been put on page 1 of our virtual pub the Hornets Nest! Friendly and helpful bunch any probs give us a shout
Norway, I would strongly advise against jumping into bed with either rugby players or mediaeval warriors...it can only end in tears...
Over the last week Watford have played various matches and yesterday the Academy lost to Charlton and today the U 21's drew 2-2 with Southampton. I'm sure there has been behind closed doors friendlies for the 1st team squad and there was a Womens match as well. Both Charlton & Southampton sites have reports on the matches but I can never find a report from Watford or anyone else from our perspective that quotes the team that played or what happened. I find this very frustrating.
