Looks like he's going... Aston Villa manager Dean Smith has admitted for the first time that recalling Tommy Elphick from his loan at Hull City is a possibility. Elphick has shone at the KCOM Stadium since being allowed to depart Villa Park on transfer deadline day by former Villa boss Steve Bruce. The Tigers had hoped to keep hold of him until the end of the season, however a combination of Elphick's form and a lack of centre-back options at Villa has prompted Smith to reconsider the club's position. When asked about a possible return for the experienced 31-year-old, Smith said: "Yes it's a possibility, but he's playing football until January, so I won't say anything on that until then." While Smith wouldn't reveal more, our colleagues at the BirminghamLive report conversations have now taken place and Elphick will be returning to his parent club in January, which would be a hammer blow to City boss Nigel Adkins, who has started Elphick in every Championship game since his arrival. https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/aston-villa-boss-dean-smith-2360485
David Burns @bbcburnsy Nigel Adkins @HullCity tells @HumbersideSport that It's a "possibility" Tommy Elphick will return to @AVFCOfficial after the Leeds game. He says Dean Smith has called him. "I've had a conversation with Deano, it's a possibility, we'll have to wait and see". #hcafc
I think villa are trying to get us to buy him. As for elphick, he would only go back if they offer him a new contract and a promise of games
The same trick that Steve Bruce’s Sunderland played on us a few years ago with Ahmed Elmohamady. Surely Villa are looking at higher quality and younger centre backs than Elphick for their long term future. And as good as he is, he’s not a player that will propel them into the play offs.
If Ehab had paid a loan fee they couldn’t have recalled him. Us doing things in the cheap again. We are desperate for a centre half if he goes. We also need another midfielder for Irvine, maybe a striker and a left full back. I predict non of these.
The attacking options we have if Bowen Grosicki go and Campbell is injured are desperate. I don't subscribe to the theory that Dicko and Keane aren't up to it, more like they would be up to it under a different manager or coach. Adkins needs to get these players firing and soon
I think I can say, in all honesty, you make the worst attempts at wumming I've ever seen I mean, I've just given up smoking 20 a day and yet your posts just make me smile A very merry Christmas and a happy new year to you and yours fella
Is that why, when they show the film in Summer, it’s listed as “****’s Christmas Carol”? I always wondered why that was
