Just a quickish one for this guys as I dont have a lot of time. Anguissa is still out for this one but its hoped Ryan Sessegnon will be back fit, possibly may get a place on the bench and feature later in the match. Our promotion pals from last season have had a really good start to life back in the big time, they seem to have spent well in the summer and found a few gems, and of course we know all about the likes of Neves and Jota from last season, although its thought Jota may be a doubt for this game. On to our team, the manager may be tempted to stick with a similar team to the one that played at the weekend and almost got us the three points. For me though I like the energy and enthusiasm that Kamara gives the team, he may not be the most gifted player in the world but will give a lot of effort. Perhaps the opposite of Schurrle, a very talented player but is more of a luxury player who wont give the running and effort of Kamara. So my team...... ...........................Rico.............. ........Odoi.....Mawson...Ream........ ..Christie...............................Bryan...... .................Seri.......Chambers...... ......................Cairney.......................... .............Mitrovic.........Kamara........ Merry Christmas to all, have a good one
Cheers Fab. Looks good. While I'd like to see Sessegnon start think you're correct that he'll be eased into this one, if at all, and saved for Huddersfield. Also agree about Schurrle. Not sure what he brings to our game at the moment, although suspect the Manager will disagree.
We've got that old salt Andre Marriner tomorrow. please log in to view this image The match rounds off a series of monthly visits to the Cottage for the Villa supporter. Last month he was 4th official in our 3-2 win over Southampton and in October he was in charge of the Bournemouth game. He booked four in that one; three of ours - Kamara for a dive, Mitrovic for a bit of petulance and McDonald twice, earning Mac a red card. For the record Marriner has had a busy 16 matches so far, forking out 48 yellows and 2 reds.
Well, you're off the bottom, don't think you'll be there again as Huddersfield have lost Mooy and he's the only premier quality player they have, the rest are lower championship. Not been impressed with Sessegnon when I've seen him play, he's seems very weak and easily pushed off the ball, has the odd moment and puts in a decent ball now and again, but looks a lot of hype to me. IMO Cardiff and Huddersfield are going down with either you or Burnley, a month ago I wouldve said you, but your players look up for the fight now.
I'll take that Ern. While don't agree with you about Sessegnon our Manager apparently does, saying that Sess needs to be more physical/powerful when in tackles with opponents. Frankly could name at least 6 of ours who lacked strength in tackles against yours than him.
Really annoying that we didn't have another McDonalds and all 3 points. For the first 20 minutes it looked as if we were playing a man short. Then we took some control and ought to have gone in at half time at least one up. Wolves bringing on Cavaleiro and Costa in the second showed more creativity but still didn't pose any great threats. However after scoring we, for some reason, sat deep allowing them to come on to us and an equaliser was always in the air. Bringing on Sessegnon for Schurrle was definitely positive. Apart from his goal Sess gave the team (and the crowd) a lift with his aggressive running and pace. Cairney for Kamara could also have paid off but Tom struggled to get into the game - perhaps the better move would have been for him to replace Seri. And on that, while Seri was generally poor, bringing on McDonald for him inevitably meant we'd go deep and lost forward outlets. Finally it's another hey, what if that late effort by Mitrovic had been a tad stronger. Had it been then doubtful if it would've been hacked off the line. And therein lies the difference between worry and comfort. In our three drawn games in the last two weeks: v Leicester missed chance 94th minute - 2 points dropped v Newcastle missed chance 94th minute - 2 points dropped v Wolves missed chance 90th minute - 2 points dropped Still as the guy behind me said, "we're going to draw our way out of trouble"
I thought before the game we might draw this game. We took a bit of time to get into the match but when we did I think we were the better team in the first half and with a bit of luck could have been two-nil up. We stuck with it second half and although did not have much of the possession we did have the better chances. Mitro I thought was excellent, he missed a few good chances but he scared the hell out of that Wolves defence again. A draw was a fair reflection of the game but we so nearly got the win that would have helped us enormously. We're picking up points, gradually getting better and the players seem to be fighting. Three points on Saturday surely though is a must.
