Big ask to win the King George without a prep run though and first try at 3 miles..that would be my worry. When was the last time a horse won this race first time out?

Bags of potential and is the unknown quantity in the race to a degree ...just think it's too much to ask in what is (if they all stand their ground) an ultra competitive king george where jumping will need to be quick and slick and the lack of a run might find him out in that department..

All true. However I don't particularly rate this current crop of 3 miles. This boy has the potential to be the next superstar in my book. Therefore I am prepared to take the chance.

Fair shout.. would be interesting to know if any horse has won the race first time out.I looked back over recent runnings and all had at least a prep run before running this..I wonder if anyone has won the race first time out?

Not sure who I will be backing yet myself...

I've looked back as far as 1982 Captain and every winner back to then had a prep run. The longest break in that time was 1987, Nupsala, who hadn't run since the October, 70+ days. As mentioned on the King George thread you've got to go back further than that to find a winner who hadn't been tested at 3 miles previously. That is 2 significant trends negatives for Waiting Patiently to overcome. Don't get me wrong I really like WP and would love to see a him prevail for his smallish yard but at the odds Native River 7/1 is the bet for me. At that price there's scope for some ew thievery too.
Edit: The very talented but ill fated Vautour came within a head of winning this race on his first try at 3 miles in 2015.

    Leopardstown

    13,10 Coko Beach 11/1 e/w

Coko beach was bought in France by Gigginstown after winning his only hurdle race very easily. They must believe that he's very good when their first race is a Grade 2. Yet 25/1 for the Triumph, after the race maybe not.

Klare Castle 12 25 Hunt , 10/1 , last year's winning stable send this one into the fray , stables are notorious for targeting previous races they've won , edmunds and gethings are going well atm , i extpcted a shorter price !
In the next race Spirit of Hale , same comments apply , though is currently 7/2 fav , and i'm also with Stick and co on Waiting Patiently in the KG . good luck to all !

I backed Vautour that day too who went so close...I read somewhere only two horses have tried to win this first time out finishing 2nd and 3rd. So in fairness not many have tried. I'll be backing Might Bite but will leave until the day as price might drift further.

Kempton suits and really he should be undefeated at the track. He was so far in front when he fell in the Kauto Star novices chase and for me is the best 3mile chaser around especially when good to soft ground which I reckon it will be come boxing day.

Will have an each way saver on Tea for Two as well currently around 50/1 !! I think he will run a real big race! 4 places with Sky bet so I 'll be placing that bet with them.

NATIVE RIVER (gold Cup Winner) 7/1 is the e/w bet in this. Beat Might Bite both times they have raced, no horse has EVER won on season debut (Waiting Patiently). Bristol De Mai is a superstar at Haydock but not here. Politologue never won over this far but has a good chance to place. Thistlecrack dose not jump fences well enough to win. The others aint good enough.

Convinced yet........7/1 is a big price and might pay for a few rum & cokes boxing day <ale>

Assuming there will be a really strong pace I believe this could get attritional after the 4th last (for me usually the key stage of the King George - whoever leaves the back straight going best is often the winner - Vautour the one obvious exception in recent years). I expect Waiting Patiently to be quietly ridden with Hughes holding on to him until close to the second-last. If he can still lie up with them at that stage then his turn of foot could be decisive. It is a big if as he has never gone the trip and it is his seasonal debut BUT his trainer maintains he goes best fresh and the way he breezed up to, and past, Cue Card at Ascot augurs well. I would love him to do it for Ruth Jefferson, everyone at the yard and of course the memory of her dad. Proper horse this, just about whether he gets the trip (hope he doesn’t do what Flemenstar did in the Lexus).
