The difference between Ralph and Klopp is that there is nothing about Ralph that makes me want to punch him in the face
Really cannot say enough how intelligent his movement was on that goal. He was goalside and available for a pass; 90%+ of attacking players would have simply stayed there and laid their bet on beating Lossl from a tricky spot. Obafemi recognized that the angle was poor and there was a defender behind him, so he drifted into a spot that freed himself up while allowing Redmond's attack to occupy the defender. For visual evidence, here is Obafemi when Redmond takes possession: please log in to view this image please log in to view this image And here is where Obafemi ends up when Redmond make the pass: please log in to view this image As soon as Redmond beat Schindler, Obafemi figured out where the open area would be and reacted instantly, counter-intuitively taking himself away from goal. There are players in their 30s who have been playing at a high level for a decade or more who wouldn't make that decision; their focus would be on presenting for the pass, which would rob both Redmond and themselves of space. Seems strange to be excited by a striker who has fluffed his lines on most of his chances to date, but areas of his game are well advanced for an 18 year old.
Disagree. I've always liked Klopp and was jealous of Liverpool. Now we've got Ralph I don't have to be!
And let's not forget how Obafemi got away free later ...and failed to score by putting it too near the keeper. Missing can happen to anyone, but he got away and showed a bit of pace, so I am hopeful there will be other chances he will put away.
No, it’s something I said before the last game, but it’s just not an area in which we’re short of options.
Harry Reed. Mark my words: he will be a substantial part of our squad next year. He does the things that Ralph 2: Electric Boogaloo wants in a central midfielder.
Just realised that if Obafemi has scored with his first opportunity, Vestergaard would have got the assist
Guys...a certain Alan Shearer didn't always have the best of games as a youngster.......but he did have one thing that was brilliant he always found space. Ask Arsenal on his debut..........I thought he was younger than 18 and 160 odd days??
Could be. Never understood why he didn’t get more games. Always high energy and wanting to win the ball and then move it forward
I made this point during the game yesterday. Everyone is currently (rightly) pleased with Romeu, but I dont think he is an exact fit for Ralph and think Reed would offer more tenacity, chasing, speed, passing, vision and ability.
Nicely illustrated Schad. We should have more of this photo/video analysis on here. It will help that we might now have some material to work with!
Morning all. Thanks for all the "likes" of my half-pissed ramblings when I finally got home last night. Not sure my wife believed my explanation that Huddersfield station was closed by drone attacks. But one huge omission. The brilliant support from the fans. Much though I enjoyed my time with some great Terrier fans, I so wanted to be in on that party.
