Ranieri today confirmed that Anguissa is still out, as is Ryan Sessegnon but he is hopeful young Ryan will be back for the Wolves game. The gaffer is hopeful that Mitro can go back to haunt his old club and put in a big performance. Our opponents although they do seem to be picking up enough points to stay clear of the relegation zone for now, they are a bit inconsistent so hopefully they have one of their off days. Newcastle will be without Karl Darlow, Ciaran Clark and Jonjo Shelvey tomorrow. As for our starting 11, rather than try to guess what the gaffer will do I'll just go with the team I'd pick. ...........................Rico.............. ..Christie......Odoi.....Mawson...Bryan.... ..............McDonald?..Chambers...... ......Vietto......Cairney........Kamara..... ......................Mitrovic..........
Your doing a grand job Fabio, I'd agree with your selection and ? re McDonald on the basis of fitness maybe.
Rico, Odoi, Ream, Mawson, Christie, Seri, Chambers, Cairney, Bryan, Schurrle, Mitrovic. Subs - Betts, Le Marchand, McDonald, Johansen, Ayite, Vietto, Kamara. Not too sure on the formation, could be three centre backs with Christie and Bryan as wing backs or perhaps a normal back 4 with Bryan playing as a left winger. Glad to see McDonald back in the squad, hopefully see him playing over xmas and new year games. Theres a couple of players in there that owe us a performance, we have a lot of big games coming up now so hopefully they start to show something in these games.
I hope it is 3 center backs, we look very unbalanced if not. A massive game today, we will need every effort from the whole of today's squad to get a draw, a clean sheet would be a fantastic bonus.
Good point, clean sheet and good performance away from home - and should have won it at the end, so unlucky. That's just the positive we needed.
Everything I'd hoped for, plus it may have been even better. A grand Christmas present, thanks FFC. COYW's.
To anyone who watched the game, what was the formation in the end? Did we go with the three centre backs? Having quickly read through some comments on twitter it would seem a few people thought Seri had a good game, possibly his first in a Fulham shirt. People also impressed with Mawson and Bryan. Hopefully this is the team starting to gel together now and the new boys settling in.
Fabio We did play 3 center backs, we filled in the gaps much better by doing so. Last seasons MOTS Tim Ream had his best game so far in the EPL, looking much like his old self, calm cool and alert. That said the whole team performed well and looked like a unit, Newcastle didn't achieve any shots on target, which was more to our credit than their deficiencies. The substitutions came at the right time and for good reason, Cairney and Schurrle both tiring near the end. We were well worth the draw and a late win would not have flattered us. It would be difficult to suggest a MOTM, but certainly not Rico this time, he had much less to do. A good result for us and something positive to build on.
We can defend - who knew? Not Seri's first good game, Fabio. I was really impressed with what I saw from him at the start of the season. I'm not saying his critics more recently don't have a point, but I don't believe he's the disasterous signing some are making out.
Agreed Captain, I saw enough from Seri early on to believe he can be a good player in this league. Anguissa however, has never showed an upside.
Since the beginning of the season Mark Lawrenson has generally tipped us to get results. I noted on Saturday he tipped a Newcastle win. It occurred to me that his predicting was a curse last time we were in the Premiership. He's got us down to win 2-1 against Wolves, yikes.
Nice to come back to a McDonalds. Watched the highlights just now. The performance looked gritty if not pretty. But hey, only a boot off all 3 points ...
