They can't take a dividend if the distributive reserves are negative losing money in one or more years in isolation is irrelevant I thought Manchester United was profitable, though
True.... but they can pay themselves a directors fee or directors loan, lots of options avail away from dividends
Good idea. Will be able to tap into that key demographic of supporters who live from Cullercoats to Whitley Bay.
I'm one of 'em - sort of. Spent a few weeks every summer from 8-14 years old living @ my paternal grandparents in Whitley Bay. Spanish City was a daily adventure in those days. Another coincidence was I used to bump into Mark Knopfler in a chippie in Headingley in the early 70's quite regularly (pre-Dire Straits) when he was with Silverheels. He didn't need a keyboard player, to my chagrin
Won’t be long till some of the bigger Championship clubs go bust, the merry go round of Championship owners has to stop one day. Unless you have been in the Prem in the last three years it’s nonsensical to be able to run these clubs at nothing but a loss. Didn’t I read the Leeds chairmen saying if they don’t go up he will have to sell. This makes the Allams decision to overprice our club dumbfounded. In Feb it will be losing a million a month. Anyone here G Lloyd in humberside last night. Getting pelters for saying the deal was agreed 6 weeks ago. He said the deal is agreed, money is agreed, proof of funds done, due diligence done the only stopping point is what they can and can’t do with the land. This seems a bit strange considering they haven’t actually contacted anyone about the land. He also said Ehab would run with money now if the deal could get done, probably because it’s overpriced by about 20 million.
Leeds owner has problems away from the club, his Eleven Sports UK launch has been a disaster and looks like it's about to close down. Gwilym's simply a clown.
Hilarious to hear people ringing and texting RH Sportstalk and asking Gwillum if he has any news on the sale. As if he is more informed than anyone else, and even if he was do they think he would keep it to himself until someone contacted him on a radio programme and asked him about it.
Didn't he work for the Yorkshire Post in Leeds for a few years as a journalist. Whereas the above mentioned G. Lloyd moonlights as a journalist on Blunderside, while his real job is a fryer working in Bob Carvers.
What sort of name is Gwillium anyway. I would update it to G. William immediately to appeal to a younger less desperate audience.
Gwilym Lloyd George, 1st Viscount Tenby, TD, PC (4 December 1894 – 14 February 1967) was a British politician and cabinet minister. A younger son of Prime Minister David Lloyd George, he served as Home Secretary from 1954 to 1957. Google is your friend
Could this ongoing takeover work in our favour? Sure, they’re not going to sign anybody because “they’re leaving” but maybe they won’t be able to sell anybody too as that’ll affect the price for the new owners (hypothetical, I know).
Aside from the league registration, the only assets are the players. So, yes, any sales could affect the price. Then again if proceeds are used to reduce the debt then maybe not. Assuming, a wild guess, one of the sticking points of any deal is what happens to the debt. I hope this succinct, unambiguous, waffle free reply answers your question.
If the new owners are savvy, they'll have stated in the terms that they control any movement in the transfer window as it's them that'll be directly affected by those movements once the sale is completed.
Watching Sunderland Til I Die on Netflix and, without spoiling the episode content for anybody not watching, as soon as their takeover went through, their ticket office was busy again. The staff were interviewed saying they expected it to be quiet with people not bothering after their relegation and it ended up being the opposite with queues out the door. Great atmosphere around their stadium for the game too. Hopefully something similar for us.
