I don't think they can do this Heironymus - I think the attendance they announce will have to be the number counted through the gates (could be wrong though)

I have emailed the premier league to ask if it is true that they made this decision as indicated by safc's reply to marcus. See what I get back if anything!

If the game is not going to be on sky then this shows the utter disrespect of the club and the premier league have for the fans.....They are obviously not worried about the season ticket holders as they already have the money.........they must have done their sums regarding numbers of casual supporters paying on the day and concluded it was not worth the hastle arguing with the premier league...........it was probably a case of "ok yeah move it to sunday" then "oh bugger" thats the gnr day ..oh well its not worth changing as this shows us up as complete idiots......people forget how dimwitted some senior managers can be especially folk on a "special panel" anyway whats wrong with a 5pm kick off....rather than 1300

Question how long has there been an automatic swearing checker on the posts...( replacing offenders with an asterix)has it always been there or is this new,,, if its old it obviousle isnt working very well as i had to replace my sh1t with a bugger and to me bugger is much more rude ..anybody know because im sure ive seen some choice language on here before.....is there a list of "no no" words and if so can the mods post them.....".oh bugger" silly me for example.......... **** **** **** **** **** ****..thats 5 sh1ts...oh bugger wish i could count

Swear filter has been there since day 1 mate - on the bottom of the page there is a drop down where you can select "Swearing" or "No Swearing" - you can change as you wish so the swear words can be seen or not

I have my reply from the PL:

Email from the Premier League:

Thank you for your e-mail concerning the change in fixture of the Sunderland v Stoke City match.

The compilation of the fixture list is a complex process in which a number of factors are taken into account including police requirements, progress of Premier League clubs in European and domestic cup competitions and broadcast selections.

We appreciate that the change to the Sunderland v Stoke City fixture will create difficulties for fans who wish to attend the match and participate in the Great North Run but in this case Stoke City’s progress in the UEFA Europa League, requiring them to play a European fixture on Thursday 15th September, meant the fixture had to be moved to Sunday.

The kick-off time for the match was agreed by all parties involved; the local police force, the two clubs, the Premier League and the Safety Advisory Group.

We apologise for any inconvenience that the fixture changes may cause you. Thank you for taking the time to contact us and provide us with your feedback.
-----
My response:

I am not happy with this response as it does not explain WHY the fixture had to be played on the Sunday.

Sure I understand the 48 hour rule after the Europa cup game and Stokes participation in the Carling cup in the week following the fixture, but surely there will be another midweek where Stoke will not be playing later in the season? This would make much more sense.

It appears that, as I stated to Sunderland, the Premier League do not care about the fans and just about ticking their own boxes. What rule stops this game from being put back to later in the season? What red tape makes this a no-go? I can see no definitive reason for it and, as such, do not believe that Fans were, at any point, considered in the decision to move the game. There are ample opportunities later in the season to play this game and myself and my colleagues (the people who pay premier league staff wages) seem to have been completely ignored.

I do not believe the Premier League have taken into account how many Sunderland season ticket holders will be involved (in some part) in the run. I know of at least 20 who are running in the event (and another 10 which are supporting those 20) - I believe the thoughts of the Premier League are only about "ticking the right boxes" which appears the norm when it comes to us fans.

Will the Premier League reimburse me the cost of my ticket for the game (approximately £23) or is this just a hit I have to take due to your not being flexible enough to allow the fans a say in this matter?

I would appreciate an answer to each comment posted above in your reply and not a simple response saying that we did due diligence or whatever as this does not answer any question I have posted to my club or to the premier league about the fixture scheduling.

Or play it on Monday. FA can't say it's unfair on Stoke fans as they accepted Sky's demand that we play Norwich away on a Monday night.

Seems to me, that none of these folks are prepared to do the decent thing, the right thing even, methinks that is akin to them losing face, not difficult realy, when you consider them as being faceless controlling bastards anyway. I dont think Tony Pulis , the Stoke fans, or the team would have a problem with a reschedule, especially the ex Sunderland players, who I am sure will be aware of the occasion. Quick thought,,,,how many Stoke supporters will be running, or watching the GNR on tv? Im in Holland and I will be watching it. come on Sir Nial, make a stance. Because Im sure you know of this by now.

That's what I think has happened. They know they have made a serious error and no one has the bottle to say "this is wrong we have to change it". I agree Niall needs to make the decision, if he can. I note I have still not had a response to my email yesterday to the premier league about this.

By the way the game can't be played on Monday as Stoke have a Carling cup game on Tuesday.

Had another look at the whole thread and the replys, and realised nobody has been represented by the Stoke supporters, some of which may be running in the GNR, or supporting friends or family, or the football supporter who has to travel up, then get back home. so Ive pasted the entire thread so far [ link ] onto their board, maybe we will get a reaction. still need a response from Sir Naill. But Im sure he wont like the position the club and supporters are in right now.

Stoke fan here.. <peacedove>
I was coming to the game as I have many relatives living in the North East. NOW! After reading numerous comments I won't even try and get there.
Usually, I have stayed in Newcastle with relatives but, now this has made even that short distance.. a nightmare!

WHY can't the F.A. sanction a reversal of this fixture? Mackem's would be starting out early morning, problem sorted or is it?
As you say, lots of your fans take part in the race. So, move it to another date... SKY should be held to account too!
TOO many fixtures are re arranged BECAUSE the own the t.v. rights.
I'm lucky, now retired but, when I was working up until last May, it used to drive me crazy asking my gaffer to accomodate
the F.A. and of course SKY t.v. Which, I don't have.

Hope this oppinion helps and I would be interested to see what the Sunderland fans thoughts are? I'm meant the reversal of the ixture as it would not effect your season ticket's. i.e. no money lost but, you would still miss the game anyway.

Good luck fellas, someone needs their head read. .. What a complete and utter C*** UP

Best wishes for the season, apart from two games.. <ok>

Why not on Moday night or 4-oopm Sunday would still be better than a lunch time kick off. Those doing the run could then go to the match unless of course your a crap runner lol

Are you the same Pottermouth from 606? If so, I always respected your commonsense views, and once again you have hit the nail on the head here..It's madness that they have arranged this match whilst the GNR is taking place; however, on this occasion it has nothing to do with SKY TV as as far as I know it is not being televised.

I agree with most comments on here. It's sad for the fans who will not be able to attend the game though due to competing or spectating at the GNR. In a strange way it's almost like robbing the fans as you've paid good money to watch all of the games.
Would the club not refund the value of one game to each ST holder who is also competitor in the run? It would be a good PR gesture given most people run for charities?
