I wonder if he has saved up enough money to take an early pension? Mark Hughes would probably kill me laughing. It would be worth it!
If you're Alex Ferguson and you think your most expensive player is taking it too easy, you give him the hair dryer treatment, drop him to the bench and put out a team that wins in spite of that player. Result - expensive player is taken down several pegs and want to fight to get back to the winning team. If your Jose the Special One, you give the expensive player the hair dryer treatment, drop him to the bench and put out an inferior team that significantly underperforms. Result - the expensive player now really is Billy Bigballs, believes he is indispensable and has a grudge against the manager.
Zidane has nothing to prove. One of the greatest players ever and won the Champions League three times on the spin as a manager. I read that he had to have his arm twisted to take on the Real Madrid manager job in the first place. After he resigned from that job he said he would think about coaching again, but not head coach/manager. Of course things change and ego needs feeding, but he has always struck me as a kind of quiet, shy bloke off the pitch, I would be genuinely surprised if he coaches anywhere else apart from the French National team, possibly Juve, Cannes or Marseilles. Fun facts: in 1995 Kenny Dalglish was interested in signing Zidane for Blackburn, but club owner Jack Walker said ‘why do you want Zidane when we have Tim Sherwood?’. The next season he was offered to Newcastle for £1.2m, but they rejected him saying he wasn’t good enough for the PL.
Sorry to see anyone sacked (Mark Hughes and Jungle knees the exception of course). He’s done great things as a manager, been very successful but his recent negativity is such an opposite to when he was a good manager. He has done much at many teams so I don’t even consider him as a Chelsea manager as he has been more successful elsewhere than at the garden shed ground. I don’t really see what is out there for him now though.
Definitely one of the greatest ever players, but I may have had a good chance of winning the champions league as coach of the team he had at Real.
Sad he got sacked - he is one of the games characters. However he had some top quality players that just did not perform...they were happy enough to take a million pound salary and yet cheat the manager and Utd fans Whoever goes in will have a job and a half. No one has mentioned Rafa - his contract finishes at end of season....he is being mucked around by cashley so could be an option. However...Please please please go for hughes
So Solskjaer it is then! Brilliant! Great appointment from United, reminds me so much of when we appointed Holloway, absolutely essential to get that feel good factor back for United just like it was for us back then. A Norwegian will manage Manchester United (interim yes, but who cares), unbelievable really. Looking forward to see what he can achieve. Think he will prove the doubters wrong, it should be interesting for sure.
Apparently Cantona, with zero managerial experience but plenty of self confidence and a great sense of humour, was prepared to drop everything and step in. Would have been utterly brilliant, I’d like to see Pogba play silly buggers with Eric.
Same school as Mourinho, would have changed nothing. But I'd love to see the faces of Pogba and Lingard walking into training to find out they had to answer to Roy Keane He would have tackled them knee high at the first oppurtunity.
