That was a good result against the odds after going down to 10 men (again). It leaves Rangers with the opportunity to progress to the (KO) Round of 32 if we beat Rapid Vienna in the 6th and last Group G game on December 13th.

30/11/2018 : Happy St Andrew's Day ... and happiness will increase on Sunday with a win at Tynecastle that will put Rangers top of the SPL. Celtic will have a game in hand due to their involvement in the League Cup Final. The midseason battle for top spot will continue throughout December.

That was a scrappy match won from an offside goal and marred by another Red Card, when Arfield pointlessly slid into the HMFC goalkeeper, who had the ball in his possession. The cliche 'Win ugly' definitely applies to this match, but a win is a win and Rangers are top of the SPL. I do not think any other Club's supporters would object to this scenario if their team was the beneficiary of such events ... Or would they ?

The stream was duff so I have not seen any of the play. Going by the SSN Live Commentary it looks like Rangers had enough goal attempts (11-3 to Rangers), but none went in. This unexpected setback sees Rangers 2nd, behind Kilmarnock - well done to them - and ahead of Celtic (well done to Motherwell !).

That was a very poor performance from Rangers today. It was probably inevitable that Kenny Miller would score but after Dundee went down to 10 men and Halliday equalised with the free kick and Lafferty had a goal incorrectly denied as offside, there was too much square and back passing in front of the 10 men and unimaginative high balls into their box, easy meat for the Dundee GK. Credit to Dundee for their resilience, they showed the same grit as we have had to do in several matches when down to 10 men. This missed opportunity leaves Rangers 2nd, two points behind Celtic.

Rangers required a win and should have gone for it from the start. Playing for a draw until late in the game and then hoping for a late winner is not good strategy, never mind tactics, which often yields the anti-result we have had tonight.
Over the whole Group campaign it was the failure to get the results against Spartak Moscow that led to the need to win tonight. We will have to try again next year and should do better then.

Rangers return to the top of the SPL following the combination of results today. Our game was one of those where we were dominant throughout, but always with the nagging feeling that the opposition would nick something against the odds. Fortunately this did not happen today.
