EFL1 (Championship), Sunday 25/11/2018 : Aston Villa 4-2 Birmingham City That was a good result off a hot and cold performance ... which started in Bruce mode, with the opposition taking the lead after generally playing better too, but then went into Smith mode, afterwhich AVFC never looked back. There are lots of things I could comment on from this match, but I will just mention its crowning glory ... Alan Hutton's goal (Villa's 4th). It was a splendid example of self belief and the will to make and take the opportunity to score for your team and Club. After this result AVFC's total Form Points rose from 65 to 69 ... that is, points after 46 games. The maximum available is still 111 points, with 84 points left to play for. AVFC stay above par and are 8th in the table, with 27 points and GD at +6 from 18 games. Attendance : 41,200 (AVFC) P.S. We have Forest next, who are 7th with 30 points ... another opportunity to continue rising.
EFL1 (Championship), Wednesday 28/11/2018 : Aston Villa v Nottingham Forest, KO 19:45 hours. 26/11/2018 : This match is well timed, with AVFC 8th on 27 points and Forest 7th on 30 points. A win by 2 goals will see us take 7th place from Forest. My AVF Prediction, made today : Aston Villa 3-1 Nottingham Forest

EFL1 (Championship), Wednesday 28/11/2018 : Aston Villa 5-5 Nottingham Forest The stream was duff but I have seen the goals on the SSN S0ccer special ... and could not help but notice the difference between our play and that of Ipswich (under Paul Lambert) against Bristol City. I have no doubts that AVFC under PL would not have come back from 0-2 down to make a game of it like we did tonight. Dean Smith has the Matt Busby philosophy : You score 5 and we'll score 6 ... and we would have scored 6 if El Ghazi had not handled the ball when it was easier to score. Per the SSN Live Commentary the attempts (including goals) were 6-4 & 9-4 = 15-8 to AVFC ... which looks plausible ... I have been dubious about using the LC since Sheffield United 4-1 Aston Villa on Saturday 01/09/2018, where the LC was totally implausible. Attendance : 32,868 (SSN)
That was Dean Smith's first drawn match. After this result AVFC's total Form Points fell from 69 to 68 ... that is, points after 46 games. The maximum available is now 109 points, with 81 points left to play for. AVFC stay above par and are 8th in the table, with 28 points and GD at +6 from 19 games.

EFL1 (Championship), Saturday 01/12/2018 : Middlesbrough 0-3 Aston Villa An excellent result off a well composed, dominating performance, the best aspect of which was the continual pressing forward to score more goals. No more sitting back on a lead and inviting pressure from the opposition. Good fingertip save from Nyland to keep Middlesbrough out and ensure a clean sheet. AVFC remain 8th and are just 3 points off the play-off places. Attendance : 23,424 (SSN)
After this result AVFC's total Form Points rose from 68 to 71 ... that is, points after 46 games. The maximum available is still 109 points, with 78 points left to play for. AVFC stay above par and are 8th in the table, with 31 points and GD at +9 from 20 games.

EFL1 (Championship), Friday 07/12/2018 : West Bromwich Albion 2-2 Aston Villa A jammy start and a jammy end tonight. El Ghazi opened for us via an Albion player and in the 2nd half scored a cracker to match Albion's first equaliser. Albion got their 2nd equaliser via a prostrate handball in stoppage time. Bring on VAR !!! Attendance : 26,513 (SSN) 08/12/2018 : After this result AVFC's total Form Points fell from 71 to 70 ... that is, points after 46 games. The maximum available is now 107 points, with 75 points left to play for. AVFC stay above par and are 8th in the table, with 32 points and GD at +9 from 21 games. The Dummies could have overtaken us after we were robbed of the win yesterday, but they lost 0-1 at home to Bristol City today and stay 9th.

EFL1 (Championship), Saturday 15/12/2018 : Aston Villa 2-2 Stoke City A point saved or two points dropped by AVFC today ? ... It could be argued either way, I suppose. EFL1 (Championship), Sunday 23/12/2018 : Aston Villa 2-3 Leeds United A last minute mistake by Elmohady gifted this result to Leeds, which leaves AVFC in 11th and 5 points off the play-off places. Disappointing, but that is the danger of playing end to end. Nevertheless I would rather live with this danger than suffer the ennui of sitting back on a lead and hoping for a result. Well played lads, can't fault the effort ! Attendance : 41,411 (SSN)
