Burnley are lucky that Nemesis only decided to punish them with a loss.
She could have made Joe Hart ping a hamstring while
running about trying to get the ball in play during ET.

At least he grew some balls, even if it took him over 94 mins to do so.

Will OptaStat or MOTD show us how many times Burnley
had their entire team in their own box today ??

  7. Mmmm...... not sure about that...
Burnley time waste all game and he doesn’t do anything until mid 2nd half when he then books two of them (but not worst culprit Hart).
    4 minutes additional time indicated
    Spurs score
    He plays 5.15

Surely - surely - if he was trying to atone for allowing Burnley to waste more than 10 minutes of the 90, then not playing any more than the indicated 4 minutes would have been the best way. Why give them 75 extra seconds to try and get an equalize? :steam:

Awful game, Awful opposition, Awful weather, awful injury list , awful Spurs performance and all this incased in an awful empty soulless bowl.
    But............

    WE WON !!!!!!

Full backs were shocking and our attacking play lacked any kind of composure or finesse.
Great to see Oliver Skipp play like he had 100 games under his belt. Such a mature youngster.

    13 wins out of 17.
    Not too bloody shabby.
    COYS.

The combined transfer fees of 8 of our starting 11 today was about 49m (figures obviously fairly rough and are lower elsewhere).

    Lloris 12m
    Rose 1m
    Toby 14m
    Davies 12m
    Trippier 5m
    Skipp Free
    Dele 5m
    Kane Free

That's one Kyle Walker. Or two and a bit Kevin Wimmers.

    Add in:

    Lucas 26m
    Lamela 27m
    Sissoko 32m

(which is another 85m - not quite a full Paul Pogba) and out entire starting 11 cost 134m. Not bad for a regular CL team. Does bring into stark contrast what Spurs have done over the last few years. Can this continue? Loads of those signings had nothing to do with Poch. We have made a lot of dud deals over the last few years but we have struck gold at a very steady rate.

Anyway - as a side note I was looking up these fees and saw that we signed Danny Rose the same year we signed Jonathon Woodgate! (07/08 and we made a 60m deficit in transfer fees that year!).

71% possession, 15 shots with 3 on target. I suppose nobody else would have fared better against a team which came to spoil so overall...well......ok.

Is there anything more satisfying than an injury time winner against a team that wasted 90 minutes?

I genuinely have no issue with defensive football...it is a legit tactic but the time wasting today was anti football. The only thing worse is when a team turn up to kick you off the pitch (Barcelona 1982 springs to mind as well as stoke and co).
Dyche and Burnley players got what they deserved...hope they go down...was an appalling performance and tbh I have no idea why referees persist in dishing out a warning after warning. Give one warning then book every twat who continues.

Hate to sound all poncy but I paid £35 plus travel, food etc for today and a team of millionaires tried to cheat me out of watching a match.

Congratulations to our team for continuing to the end and remaining focused...they made it a good day.

btw...if the ref had any bollocks he should have blown for full time as soon as we scored...cheating should be punished.

Well that was a cold, miserable afternoon that was only brightened by Eriksen’s winner. I thought Skippy had a good game on his first start and Davies filled in ok at CB. Burnley deserved nothing, their time wasting started in the first half and the look on Joe Hart’s face when Eriksen scored was perfect karma. Dyche admitted in his interview after the game that they only came to spoil and scrap for a draw and it showed. We could have done a few things better at times but proud of the boys for persevering and taking home the win.

  17. That’s the point I was making to Roo earlier... so ironically it flies in the face of what I am going to say.... <laugh>

The points you make are all spot on - you and all Spurs fans paid good money to attend the game today and the least you should get is 90 minutes football. Burnley conservatively wasted at least 10% of that game - probably more if you average every goal kick by Hart as a minute waste.

Oh well, my expectation of the likes of Burnley and current quality / cojones / integrity of officials is at a pretty low level, so guess I shouldn’t be surprised

At some time in the future I expect to be repaid for watching that. A thoroughly miserable excuse for a football match, courtesy of Burnley and their anti-football.

Still, Skippy made his full PL debut and we took the 3 points, which is all that matters in the end. Seeing the despondent Burnley players at the end didn't quite make up for the fact that I can't feel me extremities, but it was close. However, the fact that The Gooners will have been celebrating the draw, just to be put back in their box, has put a smile on my frozen features.

    Merry Christmas!

Just got in...soaking and frozen ... dread to think how bad the 2 and a half hour trek back home on public transport would have felt if we hadn't scored!

Was behind Joe Harts goal...his face was a picture when we scored...but not as funny as his sudden need to take quick goal kicks <laugh>
