please log in to view this image Bolton v Leeds Utd Saturday 15th December @3pm Streaming links to follow Leeds make the 50 mile trip down the M62 on Saturday to the University of Bolton Stadium to face the Trotters. 23rd place Bolton will still be reeling having suffered defeat against Leeds promotion rivals Norwich deep into injury time last weekend. Marcelo Bielsa will be under pressure to give game time to Patrick Bamford who scored a hattrick against Burnley's U23's on Monday. Izzy Brown opened his account for Leeds during the same game and will surely be given a slot on the bench. Mateusz Klich is under pressure having not impressed over the last three games. Youngsters Shackleton (right back) and Halme (centre back) look likely to retain their places in defence.
Always beware of a wounded animal. Bolton are in financial meltdown and players havent been paid, but promised they will get paid on Friday? All the work the former owner and Big Sam did in Bolton has all been wasted and blown away. They played well against us for a while earlier in the season and have had some good results and almost pulled off a draw against Norwich last week. Given up trying to guess team selection with Bielsa but I fancy Aapo Halme to come in and help Pontus with the ariel threat. Yet again gone for Leeds by 3 because on paper...
Agree with your sentiments Doc. We really need this one if only to give us a bit of padding as it were for when we meet Villa. I am also going for a win by three, but aware of their performance against Norwich, hopefully this game does not prove to be a banana skin.
If we win and a big if for me (5 on the trot is no mean feat) I think it will only be by the one, 1-0 or 2-1.
Horrible game, we win and we’ve beaten the bottom club, lose and as 2p points out, it’s a typical banana skin. With Sheffield United facing West Brom and Derby v Forest a win will guarantee at least two of the chasing pack will lose some ground. It feels good though talking of a chasing pack from an automatic promotion and in the middle of a good run, usually we’re a few points adrift of the playoffs and we’re all hoping for a good run to start.
You'll stuff them, they got back into the game at Norwich because our defence switched off and thought they could cruise to the end. Up till then it was one way traffic and we needed another late (late) goal to avoid being embarrassed.
There are easy games in the championship but only with hindsight after you’ve won easily. Predicting games will be easy is a mugs game in this league and we’ve had to work hard for all our wins recently. It would be great to get a couple of early goals one game and let the champagne football flow, but its Leeds, its the championship, i’m Expecting another tough away game tomorrow whilst hoping for the 3 points.
If we start well and press them hard and score in the first half then we always seem to go on and win, hasn’t Bolton got there main striker suspended for the game after being sent off at Norwich?
Given my attempts at positivity on the breakfast debate thread I need to counteract this and thus for no other reason than I always expect us to lose, I think Bolton will scrape a 1-0 victory
Sheff utd lost their third home game to west brom last night. Can we unlike other seasons take advantage and maintain a gap and stay top two.
A win for Bolton and they can climb out the bottom 3. A win for us and we create a 5 or 6 point buffer, depending on the Derby v Forest game, possible draw there. I don't think Norwich will have it easy against Bristol City either. I'm going 3-0 or 3-1 to us. I wouldn't be surprised to see a 2-1 result to us either, we have a tendency to take our foot off accelerator towards end of a game when we're in front.
I’m pretty sure we’ve not failed to win after scoring first yet this season, could be wrong but pretty sure I saw that stat on Sky I mentioned it before, average 2.6 points between the 1st December and 1st January and no team has failed to go up. This has to be a banker 3 points if we want to finish the season top 2
Not necessarily. I'd settle for a draw today as long as we avoid defeat at Villa on the 23rd and take all 3 points at home to Blackburn on Boxing Day
I’m going for a win today and Boxing Day and get a point against Villa maybe wishful thinking... I didn’t want to seem greedy at Christmas the time of giving otherwise I’d want all 9 points
Bit of negativity flying about for today's game. Yes it is Leeds United, but come on fellas 18pts plays 42pts if we don't win this one you can forget Autos. I'm going for a win by three if only to counteract Shaks lose by three.
