Waggy scored again for the England under 21s tonight. Thats 2 in 2 for him. Maybe if he does do well he might still have a future here
He's only young but he really needs to start improving at club level now. His attitude can't be faulted but his shot accuracy, passing and positioning are diabolical. I don't think he'll pull up trees at Hull, i'm afraid.
They're jizzing over the thought of him on the Hull boards Some are even saying, 'his set pieces are quality'. Haha, depends what you define as quality. If you mean by not beating the first man then he's first class! Some are saying his movement is good as well. In for a shock I think.
...yep all depends which Waggy turns up the confident buzzing one or the trying hard headless chicken can't hit a barn door one, would love to think when he comes back to us he's the former not the latter but not holding my breath, and with Nugent out show's Sven not really impressed or he would have slotted into the Nugent roll... ah well, I really wish him well as he's a decent hard working footballer....
sxfox is right when he says 'it depends on which Waggy turns up'. He's been **** for the last season yes but under Pearson he was a tidy finisher, his first touch was particularly brilliant (that was the first thing I noticed about him in his first game, it was exceptional) and his set pieces were regularly testing the keeper and the defenders. I certainly wouldn't be surprised if he charmed the hull fans and they were desperate to keep him, though it wouldn't surprise me if he flopped either. Hopefully he'll get his confidence back and go on to be a good player, somewhere.
Aren't he and fryatt similar players although I am sure waghorn would be at 1 on 1's? Not sure how pearson is going to play them in the same team, I don't recall it happening to often for us.
Gotta put it in context people! U21 level is not Championship level! He'll be hated at Hull soon enough, and these goals have actually done him no favours.
I can tell you now that he will bang them in for Hull, and we'll be made to look like a bunch of Turkeys!
He is a confidence player and Pearson is an inspiring manger - predict he will do well enough so we will get all our money back when we sell him.
I reckon he was buzzing and playing with a lot of confidence since his move to Hull. His movement was quite good yesterday and he did cut in from the left-hand side pretty well. Having said that, he didn't really influence the game either on the left or playing off the front. In the 2nd half when Lansbury came on you and played in that position could see the difference in the England team and Lansbury's superior touch, control, vision, passing, dribbling. Waggy's goal was well-taken but in the position he played he should have had more influence on the game than he did. It wouldn't surprise me to see him do well at Hull IF he's playing with confidence because it makes such a diffference to him. I agree with Weller's Tights though, good performances will probably put up the price rather than put him higher in Sven's thoughts.
I hope so I'll wait until passing judgement on Waggy, I didn't see either of the U21 games in full so can't comment on his performances. The response I've got from Leicester fans is mixed, but as a couple of you have said he definitely thrives on confidence. I have a feeling NP will play him up top with Fryatt, Adebola is ****ing useless and to be honest McLean hasn't shown that he's capable of scoring goals in this league. I know they didn't play together much at all when they were both with you, but by the sounds of Waghorn's interview, he thinks that he can form a partnership up top with Matty. If he peforms for us, it'll undoubtedly just rise the price. Waghorn simply doesn't have a future with you as long as Sven is in charge. I hope he's a success and fits into our side, but I'm also wary that you lot might be asking for something in excess of £2m if Waggy bangs in the goals.
Hes prob at the same kind of price that Fryatt was when he moved to you (was it around £1.2m?) but if he does become a great player, his price could rise to nearer £2m, but lets be honest, if hes scored, say, 10 between now and January, £2m (or £1.5m with add-ons) is still a fairly good price.
If he reaches his potential with us, I'd definitely say £2m is worth it. If Waggy scores goals and we could get him for the same price as Fryatt (which was £1.2m), I would be delighted
True - I wanted him gone so Sven would use Dyer instead of him as a winger because Waghorn is an awful crosser of the ball. He wanted to leave and was close to going to Southampton on a full transfer - still could go as they have the money and he is only on loan to you without a buy out clause.
Hopefully he'll settle here, as someone said it depends which Waggy turns up. Bullard was a class above what we endured when he played for Ipswich.
