I don't generally harp on about tactics and substitutions but for me the Quina / Mariappa swap was crass and worthy of Walter. I'll leave it at that.
Three things noticed by jerzeypie: Early in the second half, Success fouled Mina, but as Mina was getting up he hit Success in the stomach - to call it a punch would be making more of it than there was, but he did hit Success. After the ball went past Pickford from Doucoure's header, he flicked his leg at TD who was following in - it was definitely an additional movement, not part of his dive. The free-kick at the end should have gone the other way - I'm not disputing that Kabasele put his hand up, but Keane was pretty much hugging him when they jumped, something he would have learnt when he was at Burnley under Dyche, who I saw do it a few times when he was a player. The camera angle didn't show the first one of those clearly, and the other 2, we had to rewind the play to make sure of what was he was seeing. I don't know who decides that there needs to be a video review, but if there is, Everton could find they have 2 players suspended for Saturday's game aainst Citeh, as a result.
Wasn't sure Success should have come off - he was causing a few issues with his pace and might have held the ball up but then I guess Deeney is always likely to stay on as captain. We actually looked quite comfortable until the free kick - Foster didn't have a lot do between that and the penalty save.
Saw this around midnight after getting back from outing with Mme... We looked very strong in the second half.... and such a shame re the last goal....not the best vibes to go to sleep on ! Everton very physical and niggly.... and the crowd really up in arms at every foul and anti TD.
Another point I'd like to make, although TD9 doesn't score much nowdays he is a leader and he dragged us out of the ****e yesterday. Not many other players in our squad could have done that.
Kabasele is getting some stick for his contribution last night, and I suspect that he got a hell of a verbal beating from Holebas. But just how good is our new boy Quina? He didn't look phased by his outing, and after he settled didn't do a lot wrong.
The way Holebas was behaving after the match was more than normal disappointment at losing 2 points with basically the last kick of the game - possible issues with Silva and/or Richarlison?
I'm just trying to decide whether to take my delicate man flu body to a cold Vicarage Road this afternoon or give the tickets away. I have not seen the Hornets win for a while so maybe I'll take a chance.
Beating Huddersfield on 27th Oct seems ages ago. Mind you not as bad as the losing Home run under Zola towards the end of his tenure, was 6 or 7 straight loses?
