Have to agree re. Shackleton. Got some rave reviews by fans on the radio immediately after the match, but I'm guessing they were only listening to the match on the radio. He did ok, no more than that. Phillips did ok too, IMO. He does a far better job as an auxiliary CB in his DM role. Forshaw can't lace his boots at DM. I heard Phillips being blamed for the goal against. Sure, he didn't cover himself in glory, but Pontus was even worse in covering. However, I point the finger of blame at our DM, Forshaw. Watch the game again & tell me where he was. He seems to forget that our style of play demands that the DM drops back into a back 3 when the FBs go forward. Well, our FBs were forward - and so was he. He was last seen ambling back, seemingly unconcerned. So instead of us having a back 3 to cope with their attacking 2, it was 2v2. Every single one of us knows that Bielsa maintains that we have an extra man at the back - and so should he! Go watch it again. He needs his arse kicked. Halme did very well when he came on. Matt Smith is not an easy guy to play against. He was causing havoc & the boy did well.
Not taking us to the cleaners Only a dodgy penalty got you the three points, be happy! 53% of you thought you would win by 2 or more, you aint that good and this is the championship.
Must be a crap league then if we’re not very good and 5 points clear in second, we had 70% possession and 20 shots, on another day you’d have been blown away
Morning all. Safe to say yesterday was just an all round ok performance from all Leeds players. All have shown they can be better than that but it was still nice to play average and still get the win. The defending for their goal was an embarrassment but I thought Jansson had a good game. I noticed a couple of times when we were under pressure Jansson won the ball and surged forward with it taking the pressure off and leading by example. I think Farrell had a reasonable game with a fine save towards the end of the second half when the ball looked to have gone over him and was going in. He had no chance with their goal really, defence let him down. He also showed, apart from one when he punched it, a slightly more composed manner when the ball was coming in/over high. Overall, an ordinary performance against a poor QPR side. The important thing was the win, a nice gap between us and third and only one goal conceded in 4 games.
Stick, please bear in mind this was the first penalty we have been awarded for 14 months and 14 days. 58 games of being rugby tackled, thrown to the floor, opposition hand balls galore all in the penalty box without a single decision going our way. To say we were overdue a penalty is an understatement.
Got to remember as well, Cooper, Berardi, Ayling all were first choice starting defenders, all out injured, you can’t shuffle your back 4 as much as we’ve had to and it not have a knock on effect.
excuses, excuses, excuses, get over it,you lost, you came just to keep the score down and succeeded,so be happy.
Not begrudging you mate. You were well overdue one. I just wish it hadnt been us on the receiving end. Same ref did something similar to us at Blackburn. It was the fact that your boys thought we would be a pushover that narked me if anything. People say we go looking to keep the score down but its simply not true. We are not a good side, we dont have the riches that many championship teams do but we have a good counter attacking game. If you look down our stats every week you will see that most teams have the ball for a lot more time than we do but often we create more attempts on goal. We didnt expect to win but we no longer go anywhere thinking we are on a hiding!
Good Morning to Matt WJ and co from a very sunny Bardsey Well why wasn't Brown in the squad am I being too suspicious would we have to pay Chelsea a fee if he was a sub?I wonder perhaps Doc can tell me Some more surprising results yesterdayForest losing at home to Preston Norwich scoring a last minute winner as they did last week Boro only drawing with Blackburn Bolton having Ameobi sent off and Wigan having there left back sent off will he get a 3 match ban Sacking season begins and Wed look like they will sack the boss and Reading wanting a new one
There's something I can't explain. We've won 4 on the bounce and yet it feels like we're in a bit of a sticky patch ??? The cohesion, balance, tempo call it whatever just doesn't seem to be there. Maybe we've just been playing sides who aren't that good apart from Sheff Utd and as we have to play Villa, Forest, Derby and Stoke in the coming weeks there will be a few set backs to deal with and it will show that we are currently in a little bit of a false position. Having said that we're only 2 games off half way through the season and we've been hanging around the top 2 for most of that time so that bodes well. It's just nagging away at me and we need to get better or we'll start to drop back into the pack and who knows what will happen. Great to be in this position though and it's a real opportunity to go up automatically which we haven't really had since we fell out of the PL. As long as everyone understands the real work starts now.
Dont think anything wrong with Brown or anything to do with money. I suspect he is being eased back in gently because he has been out for nearly a year. His last game for the 23s was great as he moved from the No10 role to a wide role and looked different class to anyone else on the pitch. Bielsa has said he is ready for first team selection and I can see him running out for the 23s again next week before he gets onto the first team bench. Bamford was said to be ready but I believe Bielsa has a thing about fitting injured players back into the 1st team squad gently. So he had no intention of using Bamford yesterday unless he had to, because he wanted Bamford to feel part of the group again. The hotel, the meals, the instructions, the warm up etc. Bamford will get on in the next game and even he may start for the 23s first.
The more sensible among us knew it would be a tough game! You guys have done really well to turn round your start to the season We were well well well overdue a penalty. It was bound to be a soft one when we got it. Not much consolation to the team on the opposite end of it! The forest fans weren’t happy either when Roofe punched in a late equaliser against them. Don’t think the fact we’ve been shafted by refs regularly this season was much consolation to them!
But on a positive note Jammy, we have most of our rivals to play at home. The Blades, WBA, Derby, Norwich..
