Metven is talking about opening the Premier Concourse if the sales figures climb close too needing it.

30,500 so far, excluding away fans and corporate, so around another 5,000 or so before upper level will be needed.

No idea, mate. I'm guessing it was to do with construction when we built the extension.

I think the original capacity didn't include the North stand extension. Not sure, at all. Good question, Rooch. The Premier concourse sits about 12k - 14k.

Answer will be in there somewhere.

See you can buy tickets for the FOL donation on the website now. Good idea that as not very efficient to have the ticket office calling folk back and they might be working or whatever. Another good decision by the club, like it. I said when I emailed office hours probably wouldn't be good for me and they rang me in the evening to be fair, excellent set up we have now.

Spot on Reg , exactamundo, the add on in the South Stand added 5k.
They won't open the Premier for one game for another few fans. Worst thing we ever did extend, in hindsight , if we were ok in the Premier we would sell out our season tickets on 42k. people pick and choose when there is availability to do so.

Tickets go on sale for the Premier Concourse tomorrow for the visit of Bradford.
over 36000 tickets have been sold so far leaving only 1500 left in the main areas which has triggered the clubs decision.
Article on the ALS website for those who can access it.

ALS can exclusively reveal that The Premier Concourse is set to re-open for Boxing Day visit of Bradford City
With total ticket sales already topping an impressive 36,000 nine days ahead of kick-off, SAFC exec director Charlie Methven today confirmed the opening of the Premier Concourse for the Boxing Day visit of Bradford City.
When ALS spoke to him this evening, Methven said: “As of today (Sunday 16th) there are only around 1,500 tickets available for the Bradford game in the main bowl of the SoL. The plan has always been that once the number of seats available drops below 1,500, tickets for the Premier Concourse would go on sale, so tomorrow morning we will go ahead and do that.”
Of the Stadium of Light’s total capacity of 49,000, the main bowl plus premium hospitality tickets account for just over 37,000 and the Premier Concourse for around 12,000, of which 3,000 seats are usually reserved for away fans. Just under 35,000 tickets have been sold to Sunderland supporters thus far. Bradford, meanwhile, have already sold 1,400 tickets and have asked for an additional 600 tickets to meet demand.
“Yes, so if you include all the 2000 tickets that Bradford have now asked for then we are at something around 36,500,” Methven added, “which is ahead of where I thought that we’d be at this point. The long and short of it is that to beat the League 1 record, we need to sell 2,000 home tickets in the Premier Concourse. And to reach our stretch target of 40,000, we will need to sell another 3,500 or so. Usually about 1000 people pay on the day, so we need to shift about 2,500 in the next week and a bit.”
EFL League One’s record attendance is held by Leeds United, with 38,256 for the club’s promotion game against Gillingham in 2008. SAFC is aiming both to beat that and to notch the first third tier attendance of more than 40,000 since the Sheffield derby of 1979 in the old Third Division, which was attended by over 49,000.
Methven said: “As a marketing and sales team, we set ourselves some demanding targets last summer. We wanted to beat Man City’s all-time record average attendance in the third tier, which we are well on track for. We wanted to sell more than 23,000 season tickets, and we now have 23,300 season card holders. We wanted to sell out premium hospitality for one match, and that has been achieved for Boxing Day. And we wanted to generate at least one crowd of 40,000 plus, which is now within reach.
“It is a great tribute to Sunderland fans, the performance levels of the players and the hard work of club staff that we are on track to meet all our challenges, but we do need one big last push to ensure that we nail that 40k attendance. To that end, I do implore all SAFC fans to do what they can to encourage friends and relatives to come along for what is going to be a great, and hopefully memorable, day out.”

There you have it, then. The challenge is within our grasp, so let's fill those spaces, sell those tickets, and get right behind the Lads.

Four Sunderland AFC supporters will receive an extra Christmas present this Boxing Day!
A record-breaking crowd is expected to descend on the Stadium of Light when the Lads take on Bradford City, with the red and white army quickly chasing down the 40,000 target set by executive director Charlie Methven.
Earlier today, sales raced past 37,000 with over a week to go, and the modern-day League One record of 38,256 – set by Leeds United when they won promotion in 2008 – is now within touching distance.
On Wearside and beyond, the club’s support during the 2018-19 season has been unprecedented and unrivalled in third-tier history, with Manchester City’s average attendance record also on track to be demolished when the numbers are crunched at the end of the season.
The ultimate reward for that support would, of course, be an instant return to the Championship come May, but in the meantime a lucky batch of supporters will receive an additional treat on 26 December.
The first SAFC season card holder to renew ahead of the 2018-19 campaign and the 23,000th season card purchaser will be welcomed onto the pitch with their families at half-time on Boxing Day and join the directors in Quinn’s Bar after the game.
And they will be joined by the supporter who purchases the record-breaking 38,257th ticket, as well as the supporter who snaps up the 40,000th ticket, should that lofty figure be reached.
Sunderland AFC’s executive director, Charlie Methven, said: “It will be up Jack and the Lads to send our supporters home with a smile on Boxing Day, but we also wanted to do something special to recognise the fantastic attendance we are expecting against Bradford City.
“We are looking forward to welcoming four families onto the pitch at half-time and providing them with another special moment on what I hope will be a memorable day at the SoL.
“There are only about 1,200 tickets to go to reach the League One record and fewer than 3,000 to go to reach our target, so those who take the plunge in the next few days have got a bit of a chance of winning the prize.”
