Mind I don't neccessarily think we'll struggle in this regard, I just think we'll know more after the winter. For instance I see the weather and non break making no difference to Cabaye. I just think he has a very good attitude. I think he has made a decision to come over here to improve himself, and he'll do whatever it takes. I think Santon will adapt well because he has class. He may have been out of form but I remember watching him when he broke through and thought "****ing hell this lad is gonna be some player" He was like the kid at your local club that everyone knows is a cut above. Difference is he was looking at home in the Inter Milan first team! My only worry is if struggles on the left, people start getting on his back and comparing him to Jose. Jose struggled when he first came so this lad needs time too, particularly when he is not in his natural role.

I just think people want to jump on everything Barton says, and make it out the worst possible because he has now left us. Its like the comment earlier in the thread saying Santon will have a point to prove to Joey because he called him ****. I've can't find anywhere he's called him ****, I thought it unlikely he would. I suspect he has done nothing of the sort and Joeys comments about being unproven (which is just a factual statement more aimed at their transfer policy than the individual player) are being taken out of context.

Winter will be the decider on how good our new additions are.

I don't get why people are taking Barton's words to heart. He's not our player anymore, yet they still follow him like he's some sort of Newcastle Legend. I don't believe he'd say Santon is ****, because that's a ridiculous thing to say, but yes he's not proven in the prem.
