Am afraid so...i remember it vividly, QPR v Liverpool 1988, early March..... we lost 1-0 I was 21 at the time and was probably the 10th time I'd been to QPR.
The abuse was terrible, but wasn't aimed at the players on the pitch but to me from OUR own fans..the usual Go home Paki and other colourful references.. I ignored them although I was **** scared. After the game was accosted outside of the ground by the same bunch who had abused me inside telling me they didn't need my support cos I was Indian and they rather I went back to my own country. (I was born here) .
Stopped me going to Loftus Road for about 20 years. Even when I go now I still feel a little uneasy if I'm honest.
But u know never stopped following the R's thanks to my love for the 70's team just can't follow anyone else.

Only go once or twice a season now, but haven't expierenced anything like that again to be honest. The rest of my family are all Arsenal fans, so I used to go to a few games with them and the atmosphere was never hostile. Failed to convert them to R's fans..so lucky them :)

Not QPR, but thought it apt to post here...

It just goes to show how mindless Chelsea's so-called fans are that one is now being investigated for racially abusing Sterling yesterday. Presumably this Neanderthal also celebrated Kante's superb opener and wore a Drogba shirt for years. Utter bell-end.

It doesn’t help that in the past your average Football fan was as thick as pig ****

Times change but only three years ago I had issues in my usual area not racist but homophobia against Brighton

There are still plenty of fat old white ****s who all talk like they are from a minder episode
I had a couple of blokes who did our scaffolding recently both Chelsea racists ... Ended up asking why the company didn’t employ black people

I went on with the banter that generally black people are far better climbers and usually a lot stronger ... Adding that black people usually work a lot harder as well ... loved it chief

Amazing you stayed loyal to the club after such a vile incident. I think the fact we now have a largely Asian ownership and have black staff in some key posts shows the direction our club has taken to be inclusive across the board. I can't imagine our supporters being tolerant of anything like that nowadays so hopefully the Neanderthals are a thing of the past. I've certainly not heard anything like that for many years at HQ. Hope you can enjoy some good times with us in future..<ok>

There are still plenty of the sort you describe at LR
    Easy to spot
Take a small bit of comfort that if this sort of stuff was witnessed in real time by most on here then it would be challenged
I can only however speak for myself and if I heard or witnessed that I would be well up for pop
I get excited just thinking about it as love to let the inner naughty one out for a run

What with SB’s boy and now this it’s brewing nicely

Sterling was pointing out similar articles that were critical of certain players yet not critical of others and that he and other non White players were getting a lot more criticism than Foden as an example. Heard Alan Brazil this morning saying he couldn't see his point which sums up attitudes...

Thankfully I've not experienced any racism during my many years of going to see QPR, not to say it doesn't/hasn't happened but I've always been proud of the support we've shown players from all over the world. Should we be shocked that Chelsea supporters, even in this day and age, hurl racist abuse at black players? Echoes of a certain captain of theirs maybe?

John Barnes: 'I would love to meet Tommy Robinson'
    By Samantha King - @KingSamantha_
    Monday, December 10, 2018

Former Liverpool and England footballer John Barnes has revealed that he would "love to meet Tommy Robinson".
Appearing on the Matthew Wright show, Barnes said he would like to meet the controversial political activist to find out "why he feels the way he does".
"I would love to meet Tommy Robinson to find out exactly why he feels the way he does, because there's a reason for it," he said.

"He hasn't just woken up and thought that way, something has shown him that. This is what society has showed him that there are certain groups of people who are more worthy than others. Wrongly showed him. That is what we have to tackle."
Barnes appeared on talkRADIO to discuss racism in football, following footage of Manchester City striker, Raheem Sterling, being subjected to alleged racist abuse by Chelsea FC fans.
'We need to stop fighting racism in football and start fighting it in society'

"We need to stop fighting racism in football and start fighting it in society, we're doing it the wrong way round. As long as it exists in society, it will exist in all walks of society of which football is one," Barnes said.
"We have to stop just compartmentalising football or the police, or any industry that would feel racism and say it is a problem in society. All football fans are members of society."
Jamaica-born Barnes experienced racism first-hand, and had a banana thrown at him on the pitch during a game at Everton in 1988.

"At football stadiums players do get abuse. The majority of players who aren't black don't get abuse because of their colour," he said.
"It's a problem in all walks of society but because football is media attentive we just absolve ourselves of responsibility to look at ourselves and say 'football's problem'."

Reading Sunday Times today in which the identify the Chelscum supporter who abused Sterling. And state what he says.

    ******* Black ****.

Interestingly these are the same words that Terry used to Anton Ferdinand.
Interestingly the word that is offensive is the only one they print.

I will not be able to explain what gets my goat in this very cohesively but here goes

I am not black ( and I am using the word descriptively and not offensively) but I find the discussion about this slightly off kilter.

I find it offensive that the man is so aggressively abusing sterling.. calling him a ******* **** is enough for me, and I assume that he was not so vocal when the white City players came over.

But is this so different to what we did to Terry both when he was at Chelsea and more recently during the Villa match. ( My opinions of Terry are as strong as everyone else's btw)

The ribbing about you always get 3 points at QPR, was fair game....but calling his mother a shoplifter and a prostitute not so.

No do not use the fact that she was convicted of at least one of those offences as justification, because I think even Sterling would admit to being black.

So bottom line...it's not the words...it is the intent....and perhaps we are not "holier than thou"

Discuss, whilst I hide from the shrapnel behind the sofa
