But you could get equal quality players for cheaper, its poor transfer business to go for an overpriced player when there are better out there. Yes he may turn out to be a good buy, but i'm sure for the same amount of money there is someone available who could have turned out to be a better buy.

Beat you to it Tithead. We'll revisit this at the end of the season when your ****e team are back where they belong in mid table obscurity. One season does not a good team make.

All of a sudden Spurs are a good side. Tell that to City - what was the score again?

    is this you?

I do agree with you here, if you look at some transfers there seems to be a number of similar players available for much cheaper for example Cabaye who went for a mere £4M to Newcastle. Saying that these days English players are always over-priced and I doubt the actual fee was as much as £20M, only time will tell whether Kenny and Comolli have pulled of a great deal or not.

Just seen you last post and fair enough :D I think we'll agree to disagree over our future predictions, like I said only time will tell I suppose :D

robin van.... actually you're quite wrong.

there is a lot of evidence on which to base an assessment of henderson. how you you think we scouted him ;)

his career at sunderland, playing u21 and one full international?

Making a judgment call at all over 3 games is a bit silly wouldn't you agree? surely assessing a guy based on either 3 game or comparing him to gerrard is a bit mad. Garrard at 20 was a very different player to gerrard at 25 and also gerrard today!

On this point I think in fairness had they gone for Suarez they probably wouldn't have been in the market for Aguero plus when they signed Milner it was after he'd had a really good season at the Villa.

I agree with moreinjuredthanowen on this one...transfer fees aren't really relevant with young players like Henderson or Carroll until you can see how they perform over a couple of seasons at least. Phil Jones and Smalling at manure look good value at the moment but all it takes is a series of injuries or a couple of shockers and some people will say they're over rated. It's the fickle world of football fans <ok>

I will wait until May to judge Henderson but so far he's improved from the first game where he looked nervy, second game I thought he played well in the second half and against Bolton he had a decent game...so far so good basically.

    Have Spurs improved their squad?
Lets see. Last season for the majority they had 4 strikers, Defoe, Crouch, Pavluchenko and Keane. Now they have Pavluchenko whom 'Arry doesn't give games to and Defoe who isn't exactly what you call prolific. They have Luka Modric who wants to be at Spurs as much as Carlos Tevez wants to be at Man City. Tevez so much wants out of City he told lies, he wants to go to a country where they speak his language which is Spanish...he has his heart is set on move to Italy <doh>

In all fairness, Spurs did and this is past tense have a stronger squad than Liverpool. They no longer do, and this will be shown up this season. However no Spurs manager will be to blame, they always find someone else to blame.

Its Damien Comollis fault according to Harry Redknapp. Even though with some of the signings that DC engineered he made Spurs a nice few quid profit ie the £16 million profit on Carrick signed by DC for £2.75 million and the £21 million profit on Berbatov signed by DC for £10 million.

Okay DC wasn't perfect, and some of the players that he recommended flopped, but have Kyle Walker and Naughton signed by 'Arry been successes?. Arry re-signed Robbie Keane for £16 million plus £3 million in add-ons, and he left for LA Galaxy on a free.

Spurs squad is weaker, not that their fans will admit it.
