Only when they’re winning. Before this season they’ve regularly been around 16-17,000 (>40%) down from their PL crowds. Although they do go back up significantly if they draw a big club in a Cup.
They haven't Ben. They haven't averaged less than 20,000 since the 1980s. This is a good site for info on those sort of things. http://www.european-football-statistics.co.uk/attn.htm I can remember them having 3 attendances of less than 10,000 back in the 1980s. Especially if any Leeds fans are in the pub.
Last season in the PL they averaged over 38k (Iron Ages, I know). Many times since then their average has been 21k.
But never 16-17,000. Though for the largest city with one club, even allowing for the rugby league competition, their support as a proportion of population is extremely poor. Especially when you consider how many people with no connection to Leeds, or even to the West Riding, go to their games.
Just a reminder... We got bigger crowds in league 2 at the KC, than we do now. **** off Allams you pathetic crotch stains
Yes, I did. I thought you had written they were 16-17,000 which was 40% down from their PL crowds. Should have realised as 16-17,000 would be more than 40% down from 38,000. Still, as I always enjoy telling TWS fans, only 14 clubs have ever averaged 40,000, and one of those, West Ham, since their move to their new stadium, and Leeds aren't one of them. And Huddersfield, Blackburn, Bolton and Charlton are amongst teams with a higher record attendance. Funny enough in the list of higest attendances City are the club one place below Leeds.
Never did understand the hatred of Leeds as we don’t really have much history with them and certainly nothing like the scale of say both Sheffield clubs and of course Boro..must be a newby thing. ON the pitch the reason Bellend road is currently getting all the attention again from Sky is pretty obvious, all the media still believe they are massive in terms of fitting back into the Prem and to be fair they probably would do simply because of reputation. This is probably based on the Don Revie era, being crowned Champion of Europe by their own fans and of course have that age old Hoolie reputation but unlike Millwall were its the local community that comes out to say hello ,every nutter in Yorkshire and further afield jump on the Bellend road bandwagon when they do well in order to associate themselves with the Leeds Leeds reputation. Strange innit,no matter how much of a ****er it makes them look in places like Castleford,Harrogate and probably most of Essex, they love it. Just saying like..
It's not often a football club suggests itself as the embodiment of a film character, but whenever I see 'The Green Man' and the loathsome character Percy Wetmore I think of the underachieving West Yorkshire club
Yeah well, apart from away at Arsenal and 3 Wembley visits, when did we ever win a Sky tv game? Wish I'd never done that post now...
There's quite a lot of TWS fans who don't like this either. A couple I know hate the fact they are on telly every week because it means they hardly have any Saturday 3pm fixtures and travel plans are constantly changing.
It isn't a newby thing. You only had to see how many City fans went to support Spurs when they played Leeds at BP early 1970s. Even then Hull Whites and East Yorks Whites caused a deep dislike of them, apart from the dislike of Leeds as a club.
