It would have been a very different result had Rangel's effort just before half time gone in IMO. As it turned out it smacked the post, Hull survived the mounting pressure and went on to make changes intended to kill the game after the break. Another very disappointing performance from our midfield with only Freeman having a decent game. Luongo MIA yet again and a very tired and dispirited looking effort from Eze. Hard to believe they both survived to the final whistle with Scowen sitting on the bench. TBH the subs from McClaren seemed a bit random.
Luongo def MIA and sadly not great game for Eze either. Goals do change games and we did have our chances. We were punished for not converting those chances - though as I said earlier, Marshall had a good game.
A good read as always, unless you want to forget the match. I recommend that you read it as there are some interesting points raised of "complacency" and that we are becoming "easy to predict". https://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/queensparkrangers/news/49097
I haven't read any posts on here but back to the drawing board re defending and that YOU SHALL NOT PASS attitude we had a few games ago as 9 against I 4 games is quite a turn around...….Time For Hall?
I don't know as he wasn't even on the bench Saturday. Its a difficult one as if he is then he needs game time. He cant be back to his best in training as McLaren wouldn't be able to leave him out.
Yes, I'm all for a settled team but there has definitely been an air of taking the foot off the gas as my place is safe
Steve McClaren admits ‘gamble’ failed to pay off for QPR Jarrod Bowen scored twice as Hull picked up three points. Rangers were beaten 3-2 at Loftus Road, where Jarrod Bowen scored twice for the Tigers. With his team 2-1 down and fragile at the back, McClaren took a risk by bringing on striker Tomer Hemed in place of midfielder Geoff Cameron. Six minutes later, Hull carved QPR open and Bowen netted their all-important third goal. Luke Freeman scored in stoppage time but Rangers were unable to avoid only their second defeat in 10 Sky Bet Championship matches. Goals from Bowen and Markus Henriksen had put Hull two up before Pawel Wszolek pulled a goal back for Rangers, who went close to equalising when Angel Rangel volleyed against the post shortly before the interval. A second-half onslaught looked likely but did not materialise, prompting McClaren to make the risky substitution just after the hour mark. “When you gamble – and we had to gamble – you can be on the wrong end of it,” said McClaren. “I still felt at half-time that we’d win, but we were always susceptible to that third goal. That’s what happens when you throw caution to the wind, which we had to do. It didn’t pay off today.” Rangers recently kept four clean sheets during a five-match unbeaten run but have shipped a total of nine goals in their past four matches. McClaren said: “That was our second defeat in 10 games. Over that 10-game spell we’ve been very good defensively and have kept clean sheets. “Now we’re not keeping clean sheets and we need to get back to that. We dust ourselves down and go again. “We’ve kind of fallen off the wave and we need to get back on another wave. We’ve got to get back to working hard and doing the basics right. “We need to get back to the basics, get back on the training ground, and get the simple things right, because we certainly look like we can score goals.” Hull manager Nigel Adkins revealed a pre-match pep talk did the trick for Bowen, who was outstanding throughout. Bowen, who opened the scoring after just six minutes, had netted just once in his previous nine matches. “Jarrod hadn’t scored for a few weeks and I said to him before the game to just go and enjoy playing football,” Adkins revealed. “Sometimes things can start to build up a little bit and you just need to go and enjoy playing football. “You can see he had that today and he worked for the team, scored two and could have had a couple more.” The victory lifted City out of the bottom three and was their second win in their past three away games. “I’m really pleased for all the staff and players. We’ve come away from home and again played really good football,” Adkins said. “We’ve got a team that are so committed to the cause. The team ethos is there and they’ve run their socks off. “They’ve competed and without any individual the whole team have just worked their socks off again. “We’ve been playing good football but been caught out by individual mistakes that have cost us games. “But today we’ve scored three, could have scored a couple more, and the spirit and commitment of the players is there for all to see and has been for a while now.”
