Fury won imo.. But i don't know much about boxing as i don't really follow boxing. Just thought Fury was doing better.
Watched it in full and even alllowing for the two knock downs particularly the one in the twelve, Fury was robbed of what would have been a brilliant comeback from someone who just 12 months ago was probably better adapted for sumo wrestling.. Not only did Tyson give another fabulous display of boxing he showed the world and America in particular who shunned their own champion just what boxing is all about. At the very worse Fury was ahead by 4 rounds before the knock down yet incredibly one official gave Wilder the bout by 5 clear rounds and that confirmed to many in the boxing world yet again that even if you win almost every round in America nothing is guaranteed from dodgy officiating. If I was Wilder I would stay well clear of any re match...unless of course it’s in America.
Aye I got up to watch it then went back to bed. Massive gulf in class between the two really, Fury just took the piss from start to finish. I don’t think there will be a rematch, the bronze bumder knows he’s not really up to fighting an opponent of Fury’s calibre, who will approach the fight with a lot more aggression next time and end it early IMO. I reckon Wilder will finally take the Joshua fight and the big pay day. If it wasn’t for that knockdown in the 12th I think Wilders career as an elite boxer would be over right about now. All power and nothing else, he just looked like a donkey swinging that windmill punch over his head and missing repeatedly.
That fight was about as genuine as a WWE match, even down to Fury pretending he was out cold in the 12th to miraculously get up and take the fight to Wilder until the bell. I’d feel sorry for him with the decision except his team will have been in on it, big money rematch coming up, everyone’s a winner, except boxing of course.
I haven't seen the fight, but by what I have read and little glimpses of it I have seen, I think you have found the illusive nail and hit it squarely on the head Airlie.
One judge had it 115 Wilder....111 Fury.. Fury should have kicked his guide dog on the way out... Worst I saw was Ali vs Norton back in the day....Norton won the fight by a mile but Ali still got the nod....Even Harry Carpenter said it was a fix...
Just watched the fight. No doubt in my mind Fury won that and showed Wilder up as being extremely limited.. A couple of telling points, Wilder looked uncomfortable, Fury looked like he was enjoying himself. After both knockdowns, it was Wilder wanting to hang on. Wilder's record is misleading, as typical of modern boxing, they pitched him against guys that aren't big hitters. He has a big punch, but nothing much else, and no idea what to do when he can't land it.
Fury won, no doubt Having said that as it finished me and Mrs Tash both said that the two knockdowns would affect the judging, and given Wilder was the champion, and in his own backyard, it wouldn’t be completely surprising if it went the other way. Assuming there wasn’t a fix on it then I can’t understand why Fury didn’t just keep at distance all the 12th.
Nooo Chazz. We all have problems. He’s over come them. He never took performance drugs, he never took drugs while in competition. He ****ed up, like we all do. He’s recovered... he’s pushed on
Aye responsibility for your own actions has gone out the window these days. There's always an excuse, a because of this I did that. It wasn't me it's cos I've got this diagnosis
Wilder just proved exactly why he hid from AJ and wouldn't take the fight and now has another excuse not to take the April fight, he's a poor poor boxer and his career has been made for him by his promotion team just putting bums Infront of him
