I think it is quite a common trait for wine tasters not to drink much. Too much probably damages the pallette. Been going in my local for 35 years. Although I didn't like the bloke some of the best beer was kept by a landlord who was a teetotaller. In fact there has been a high turnover of landlords/managers since him and though a couple previously equalled him none have since.

It's funny now reading this thread about wine as it was many years ago that I switched from beer drinking to red wine as a tipple. This alone made me a laughing stock and the cause of much mirth between my drinking pals. I decided that I couldn't take the bulk of multiple pints any more, causing me to feel bloated halfway through the night, so switched to wine. The sight of me stood with a small wine glass whilst all around the guys, and some of the girls, were quaffing their pints caused quite a stir at the time. How times have changed.
