That's impossible to predict he could have bought someone for nothing and sold them for 20m. There is no way to predict how long it would have taken. You're right. I don't get it. Of course he spent more money than any other City manager because he managed us in the premier league longer than any other manager. They are assets and we got far more back when we sold those assets.
In the real world directors take ownership of large investments so any large debts are authorised by them. It is not 'down to the manager',as he does not sign the cheques. You look at Mike Ashley at NUFC, a decade of underfunding Newcastle but he has found a way of keeping them competitive as he milks the cash cow each year. Compare that with Ehab Allam who has killed the golden goose and was incapable of managing the club to keep it competitive.
