It's embarrassing sometimes on sky sports they're so biased especially when on box office and they're trying to justify it to fans. That's why I like Paulie Malinaggi, calls it like it is. I haven't had chance to watch last night's fight yet though so can't comment on specifics

Bellew has done well these past 3 years to make some good £££ from the sport. He earnt that ticket with his Goodison win. Matchroom cooked up this so called rivalry with Haye (I think both fighters knew Haye wasn’t the same) and he signs off having fought the best in his division.

He should retire satisfied and proud.

The big rumble is just about to kick off and I can't wait. December 1. Deontay Wilder v Tyson Fury.

I'm hoping it's the other way around Denny. Either way though, Joshua needs to step up next year.

Last time I saw Wilder this angry he nearly decapitated Stiverne in their fight.

Fury is entertaining I just really don't rate him as a boxer and I think Wilder is the best heavyweight on the planet at the moment so I think it'll be better for the sport if Wilder wins

I have to admit Denny, Wilder is the most exciting heavyweight in the game, and to be truthful, I'd rather see him fight Joshua first.

Pretty much how I see it. I'll predict the 4th or 5th.

I sort of feel the same way Ron, but like you, I hope not too.

A friend once asked me what the best value bet of my lifetime was.
I said there were two bets which stood out.
One was the 2/1 offered against Little Bonny and the other was the even money offered against heavyweight boxer, Jerry Quarry, when he fought England's champion, Jack Bodell, in London.
Of course, Quarry was ranked the third best world heavyweight behind Muhammad Ali and Frazier.
Three days before the fight, I bumped into local Burnley heavyweight, Bernie Pollard, who told me to put my life's savings on Quarry at even money.
Bernie had given up boxing on religious grounds, but he had previously fought Bodell and knocked him out twice- and rated him as useless.
    What happened was laughable.
Jerry Quarry came out for the first round; eyed up Bodell; walked up to him and knocked him out senseless with one punch; and then put on his dressing gown to depart the ring.
Sadly, I didn't have any savings to put on Quarry, but how the bookies offered those odds against him and Little Bonny I'll never know.
Excuse the digression from the geegees.

Ah, the good old days of British heavyweights; Jack Bodell, Brian London and Billy Walker!

Then along came Joe Bugner and screwed it all up!

Ha ha! Brian London! Went to get up off the floor when knocked down but unhurt by Ali. Looked up at Ali and changed his mind. Put his head back onto the floor and closed his eyes.
What the hell! He’d made his money.
The next day’s Daily Express cartoon was a classic- showing London asking for a pillow!

The film is pretty poor Tam. Bodell looked like a punching bag.

    Thanks, Cyc.

Always felt sorry for Jack Bodell. His career was blighted by the initial victory over Henry Cooper. The main cause of the problem was Harry Commentator. I was in Uni Hall the night of that fight and listened to it on the radio. The commentary was by the great Eamon Andrews and the end of round summing up from the magnificent Barrington Dalby. Andrews gave a fair commentary and Barrington had Bodell as a clear winner. If you listened to Carpenter you'd have thought it was totally the other way and that the referee had had a brainstorm. He totally ruined that referee's career.

Carpenter's banter with Ali was always amusing but I grew up thinking thinking he was a poor judge. My father had boxed a bit and got me interested in boxing and would point out the point scoring punches. I watched a McGowan fight one day and Carpenter got it totally wrong. He also never rated whom I think for one year or so was the best boxer in the world, Ken Buchanan. Even Ali praised him, and I have no problem with Ali being the greatest.
