"Thanks Mr - whoops! forgot you bought a doctorate- doctor Allam, we're very grateful for this donation, but we have to decline your kind offer of marketing and ticketing advice for the spectator numbers."
I wonder if they'll play it in 'his lecture theatre'... Professor Allum will be happy, those lovely students don't call him nasty names, blessings
He could sit on the board as a non executive director, have some made up role and get a cheque. The new owners will have done lots of research and will know ge is the cause of the problems. No way will he be on the board.
This. Or he could retain a minority shareholding with minority voting rights. Or they could give him a different share class with no voting rights. You can basically do whatever you want with shares in companies. We are speculating and I'd be shocked if he is retained in any role. Surely any new owners have done their research and realised this is a terrible idea.
Anyone who thinks there’s even a possibility of Ehab being on the board after the clubs sold, is mental.
Not really. Anybody who thought the Allams change the name at the time they took over would have been called mental. You don't know what's going on behind the scenes, so maybe reign it in a little on the name calling, yeah? It isn't helpful.
That, or his insistence on retaining a shareholding (or perhaps retain the SMC, cos it was always about the land) is the reason why the buyers have all walked away.
Spot on. If he requests any level of voting rights, the purchasers will reduce the price they are willing to pay given the knowledge they'll already have gained about his incompetence in running this type of business. They may offer some advisory non-voting- executive role to him (as a minority shareholder) only if it is viewed as the deciding factor in getting the club out of the Allams grasp. They'll recognize to him it's only his desire to have bragging rights in social circles (look at me, I'm on the board of a professional football club ).
From what I heard recently, from a well placed source, there is nothing doing. People have looked in the window. Some time ago. I can’t see anything happening. I’m sad. There is a chance some sort of sham arrangement may be forthcoming, to make it seem sold, but no serious buyers and absolutely no serious investment. Maybe just a new face and the same body.
He’d find it difficult to hide his involvement from Companies House, and if he stays then my only involvement in the future will be posting on here.
No new owners would want a continuation of anti Allam songs and stay away protests - the guys toxic and would never be part of a deal for the club - the only question(s) for me would be how much do they want to sell the club compared to how much does an investor want to buy the club which will ultimately determine how close both parties are to agreeing a price
If I’m being unusually optimistic then this is what I think I’d do if I was buying the club (I’m not) and I’d completed all the due diligence etc Right now is exactly the time that I’d be playing hardball and telling the current owners that I’d valued the club much less than they’d valued it as, and I’d be threatening to walk away. I wouldn’t be openly saying that, but I would be happy if that started leaking out somehow There’d be no rush for me. I don’t want the club until the window opens, because otherwise I’d be paying wages etc during a period I can’t do anything So I’d be happy to sit back and test the Allams resolve I’d know I have the better hand because if they don’t sell with at least a reasonable time left in the window they’ll be stuck until the next window, and their costs will be more than their income. So I’d offer less and see what they do. If they accept then the wages I’d pay for a few weeks would be covered. If they don’t then I’d sit back until the timing was more tight and have a pop at splitting the difference later on I have no knowledge whether they’re doing that TWT
If I was buying the club and had to convert dollars into pounds I'd be considering the best time to do so. Will the pound rise or fall over the next couple of weeks? Is something going to happen which is likely to have a significant effect on the dollar/pound exchange rate? Can I get insurance if my gamble on the exchange rate movement doesn't pay off? If there's no insurance do I pay now hoping the pound rises or do I wait hoping the pound falls?
