I've kept a few Brexiters on my facebook list so that I can't be accused of bias. They're calling for a no deal. Personally, I'm the only one I know who is quite happy with Theresa's plan to continue with the EU's rules and not let British politicians **** it up
 
Can someone answer this question for me please. I've come to politics late!

What is the basis of the argument from anti-eu folks that say they never asked to become part of the EU, just the EEC? Is this true?
Wasn't there referendum in 1973 (good year!)
Did they really screw us over etc?
I think I need to understand this argument better.

Godders doesn’t do tolerance mate, he’s right and everybody else is wrong, about everything; had you not noticed that?

In truth though, this Brexit business has left the country more divided than it has ever been, with no clear recipe for healing those divisions. I blame Cameron for that.

I blame every government since Major for constantly kicking the can down the road. Not just Brexit. They have ignored every concern of the public for 25 years hoping they would go away constantly starting every one of their statements with "What the public think is............"

It would help if politicians (and their supporters) stopped telling the media what the public think without caring what they think and actually tried to address public concerns instead of batting them off as soundbites to attack their opposition with.

The TV debates were a prime example. Nothing to do with actually addressing public concerns or opinions. Solely about who can come out with the most soundbites. They are nothing more than politician vs politician with no debate and just a series of put downs and soundbites to try and get their snippets on twitter or the news segments.

It is fine to disagree with "public opinion" on something like Brexit but the reality is what we are seeing across the western world is an "over correction" like I have been saying for some time. Because politicians were ignoring concerns as they were there and brushing them under the carpet we are seeing the centre ground being deserted as political movements force the mainstream parties away from the centre.

If only they had been trying to deal with concerns through the past generation instead of ignoring them then we might not be where we are now.

On both sides (left and right) there are 90% holding their noses yet it is presented as being majority of extremists (left and right.)

Vin this is very similar to a line that the racists you talk about oft' use. One about a religion and terrorists................and we know that one isn't true either.

It doesn't sit comfortably, even though there is a part of me that thinks "go on officer, show the little ****s".

Abbott is certainly right that no one is above the law. How this tactic sits in terms of it's legality will no doubt be tested when the first serious injury occurs, and a copper finds himself in the dock.
