That Wetherby bumper, eh? Choice is easy My daughter is called Millie Rose My Mum's maidem name was McLernon It's written in the stars
Jesus, some thin skinned folk on here today , to call any regular on here sycophantic shows you don't know the place that well, I've many times opposed the bumper king , sometimes successful but long term it's a folly due to his superior knowledge / experience of that specialist area, certainly people need to not take stuff too personal about an opinion of a horse race !
well, regarding the forum discussion here, ive been to other forums, and they were much worse than this,so,i find it very fair and competently here. but, back to basics now: hereford,2 35: SULA ISLAND won well enough two starts back, and ran as well,as could be expected in a much hotter race last time out.so,in calmer waters today, should give a good account..
I totally agree your Lordship/highness/superior being/Godness stature (*delete as applicable or use all of them)
I was disappointed with Lord Yeats there. He only managed to record a RPR of 119 there, very little above his best flat form. I gave Encore Champs as the danger and he ended up winning it, although fortunate to do so. I had figured a run in excess of 125 on RPR might land the race but in the end Encore Champs earned a figure of 122, so he probably did not need to improve any to land a weak looking contest. Extra Mag was unlucky and he was a totally unexposed prospect coming into this. It was hard to get any sort of handle on his sole French win on the Flat but on this evidence he has races in him. The Skelton horse was no factor and pulled up. As I had said before the race, Smackwater Jack seemed to find 2 miles on this ground too sharp and surely a return to further awaits for him.
Can you believe that Gavin Sheehan told ATR he thought his horse would have won the race had Extra Mag stood up!
The missus has got 2 winners now on the same ticket. Just waiting for Global Goddess in the 320 at Wolves now. If it gets placed, just over £7. If it loses, just over a fiver. If it wins, then £50. Skybet have offered just over £9 as a cashout
We all missed j snowdon, he won the bumper at Sedgefield yesterday 16/1 .a winner at Hereford this afternoon and now this one !
Extra Mag was always a possible for Pipe in a weak looking hurdle contest but you have to take a lot on trust with these once raced ex-French horses. There have been some excellent recruits but we saw with Nicky Henderson and Charli Parcs that an exciting debut does not always work out. He went from hero to zero in a hurry. My angle into today's race was wanting to take on favourite Smith's Cross because of the faster ground. I felt he was poor value with all his form on heavy/soft. In the end they took him out because of unsuitable ground, so I think I had a point there. I am not looking for a fighting match with anyone, I just feel that when you spend time studying and writing a piece, it is a bit harsh to have that undermined with very little reasoning. If people like Bumpers that it their prerogative but it's not something I have found rewarding given so little form to work with. The Wadham horse was tailed off 44 lengths and that's unfortunately part of the downside of gambling on a trainer in form with no real notion of whether the horse is talented or not. If it works for others long term though, the best of luck to them. In the end Smiths Cross came out and Lord Yeats ended up being skinny. He was a play at 11/4 but would not have been had he been 11/10 at the time I was selecting him. Jockeys are the biggest fantasists of the lot with the "Oh, I had him covered stuff" they are probably worse than punters in not being to accept that another horse was more likely to have won it. Well done to anyone who got winners today, I really felt Lord Yeats would have run to about 135 today but he came up well short of that. Extra Mag? Yes Please. I'll have Trout And Salmon, The Radio Times and Big Juggs (That's a pottery magazine by the way)
