Let's face it, the away form we've been used to over the last few seasons has been dire so this season is a massive turn around. Happy with another gritty away point. 3 wins and 3 draws away??
That save from Eze's volley was sensational. I love a good save, being a member of the goalkeepers union. He nearly kept out our equaliser too, that would have been one of the finest stops of all time.
Not sure why we continue to get Sunday league referees is beyond me, shocking tackles with no yellows and a cast iron penalty not given. Lots of posts about a hard earned point, but rotherham were not great we controlled large parts of the game without creating much and the defending for there 2nd goal was shocking. If we have any aspirations of a top 6 finish then we needed to take all 3pts tonight, not be happy with 1pt although it's always great to celebrate a 91st minute equaliser ! Also met up with Irish qpr who had flown over and had a few beers with him round Sheffield beforehand which was quality
to be honest i was quite shocked with how lethargic we were i think they were there for the taking and if we need one more point for the play offs at the end of the season its games like these that we need to reflect on
I will think more about Blackburn which was wholely preventable. Last night, Rotherham played completely counter to how we wanted to play. As someone else said we ground out a draw....good point last night Sent from my STF-L09 using Tapatalk
The twitterworld is saying Lluongo was absolutely awful last night. Anyone see the whole match and can comment please?
Poor 1st half as were most, Eze excluded. Improved 2nd half and set up Hemed for a decent chance near the end. 6 out of 10 for me.
I watched the entire 90 mins on the Sky red button and although the non-HD coverage is a bit fuzzy it was clear enough to see how little the Aussie was contributing. He had one of those games where he jogs around the centre circle with the ball bypassing him regardless of who was in possession. Freeman also had a poor first half which left Eze with few options other than trying to bulldoze past the double coverage Rotherham had him under much of the game. McClaren left it far to late to get Scowen on IMO but when he did appear Freeman and Eze were re-energised and we started creating chances from midfield for the first time. I've seen Luongo have some decent games for us this season but overall he is just too inconsistent. Maybe he should tell the Boss whether he fancies it or not before the game.
He was on 4 bookings wasn't he....perhaps that was playing on his mind. And will continue to until Christmas unfortunately. The worrying thing for me though is so is Leistner and Lynch. We cannot afford to lose them both at the same time
I thought last night was our 19th game of the season and under the current rules the count now goes up till 10 yellows before a suspension kicks in.
You are right AAAAGH, it is 19 matches, and then 10 by 34 matches. Took a bit of finding So getting through last night with all players still able to play was a bit of a triumph. (Leistner, Lynch, Scowen and Luongo were all on 4) Maybe that was why Luongo was quiet and hauled off, and maybe why the defence was a little cautious.
Just seen the highlights posted on here, that save from Eze was remarkable but what sublime skill from the lad to set himself up for the volley and what a flying header from Freeman, brilliant. Questions about the marking for their 2nd goal, who was supposed to be marking him, a bloody free header from an innocuous free kick in a nothing position.....
