This is a red herring. Stewart wasn't the problem today at all. The bench was a joke, we gave two ****e goals away and we had nothing in attack at all. The side looked devoid of belief, like a real relegation side, which is weird given the recent run. But Stewart coming on wasn't the problem. I know we always have to focus on something Adkins does but it really wasn't an issue today. In fact it was probably one of Stewart's best games for us, albeit the bar isn't very high at all.
Stewart actually did well today imo! The biggest question for me was what was worse... The refs performance or Martin's first touch !
Second time I’ve been since September last year, that was terrible. I’m not sure their keeper had a save to make. Could be next September before I go again
Two joke goals otherwise they were never gonna score. Neither were we- Campbell got nowt today. Karanker is like a poor man's Pulis. Boring as ****, all defence, and sneaks wins (or gets given gifts like today). Dint think were all that bad today, just facing a team with much more money poured into it and much more strength in depth. Made the mistake of listening to Mudbank phone in on way home. Know nowt negative ****s egged on by clueless radio man to rubbish players, managers and display regardless of whether they'd been to game. I never learn my lesson. Some stupid **** rubbishing Lee Darnborough as if having no funds to buy anyone decent is his fault, Couldn't face Adkins interview- don't need his turd-rolled in glitter spiel thankyou very much.
That was probably our worst performance of the season and given what we've seen this season, it might sound like an exaggeration. Trust me, it isn't. The players were on different wavelengths yet again. The flair players were trying to do flicks and tricks while the grafting players were launching the ball to nobody. The bench looked ****ing awful and the fact that Will Keane was the only other potential outlet to bring on sums up the mess we are in. Stewart, to his credit, looks much more confident, I'm guessing he's been told to get the **** in or **** the **** off. I know Milinkovic is stuck in some sort of parallel universe, but we could have at least stuck him on the bench. Or put one of the kids on. We let Forest play football and we didn't try to bite back. De Wijs made another error, which is a shame because he seems to do everything else right. He reminds me a little of McShane in his early City career. It's a steep learning curve for him, but he needs to shape up fast because Mazuch is back fit. I don't know what was going on with Chris Martin, but he was appalling. Not just a bad performance, but a disgraceful one. He shirked headers, he looked dozy and totally uninterested. At one point a simple aerial ball was coming his way and he did a triple take and span around, like he was in some kind of Benny Hill sketch. People called Grosicki lazy, but that Martin performance is what I call lazy and I don't ever recall Grosicki playing like that. Marshall got man of the match, I don't know why, he didn't actually have to do anything. Which I suppose stopped him from doing something terrible, maybe that's what separated him from the others. I know it's easy to have a go at Adkins, but playing a CB at RB and a RB at LB is like something out of the Steve Bruce playbook. Yes, we've done alright in previous games. Alright. But we need to knock this tradition of players playing out of position just to fit them into the team on the head. Todd Kane is perfectly capable of playing LB so Lichaj can play RB, there's no need to have Burke, a career CB, getting skinned on the wings every game. Hopes weren't high given that Forest have spent a lot of money on some serious talent. They weren't at their best, but they didn't need to be. We need to be at our best every week; we've played more half arsed games than we have maximum effort ones and we're now in the ****. The manager needs to take some culpability here. If any prospective owners watched that shambles, they'll have marked his card.
Watched Martin enough to say he s not a good header, has no pace, not a forward who will make many runs but his best quality when on form is holding the ball up well.
Worrying thing was that I watched part of the Rotherham match before going to the KC. I was hoping for a bit of encouragement to be gained from watching one of our close relegation rivals. No such luck though, their organisation and movement was better than anything I've seen from City so far this season. As for the KC match - City looked low on confidence and lethargic throughout with poor touch and lack of movement across the board. It was always going to be a hard game for us but this really was worse than expected. Then, to top it all, we had to put up with a waterfall through the leaking roof of the stand - bloody Allams!
If I was the manager today and I looked at performances from my players this season then over the last few games we have looked much better with this three in the middle of midfield so I would have wanted to keep the shape we have been playing, Bring Stewart in who lets be honest befores today s game has been awful, Bring kane in, again of late not good so do I change the system probably try it, Martin awful didn't work. Have we got the strength in depth? Cause we havent. Having said that forrest deserved the win but mistakes again from the same player have cost us
It’s too easy to say we lost to a good side today but individual errors apart, you gotta show more fight and desire no matter who wears the shirt and we lacked that today Imo. I’m a Hull City fan,get me out of here...
We also lacked the ability to pick out a team mate with a pass. Shocking for a professional footballer.
