Well done guys, well done, great transfer skill... and now Barca are laughing at us:

Barca chief Bartomeu says after seeing the 24-year-old in action on the pitch and in training he believes he is worth closer to the €60m price tag originally bestowed on him by the Gunners.

He told Sport: "After seeing the work he's done since his arrival it is true that Cesc meets the €60m valuation Arsenal initially demanded.

"The kid is demonstrating a high level and quality in three weeks of training. The transfer was very good.

"In a market that is so open Cesc is worth a lot of money.

Rather than Arsenal being a laughing stock, the comments just show what a classless disgusting club Barcelona are.You only have to remember the photos that were taken when they used London Colney before the CL final in May

  3. Well we know from these past few days nay, earlier, that chairmen can be idiots and should be encouraged to keep their mouths shut.

they said, the market was so open, but it wasn't for Cesc, because he only wanted to go to Barca and they knew this. tbh, i think it would have been worth it telling them £60m or he's staying for the remainder of his contract (4 more years i think) until you pay up. if you don't, he can leave on a free then. would have been much more useful, considering we already had enough money to make more signings.

I don't think the market will go that way. Silly prices will be a thing of the past by then, IMO

  7. That was a really cheap shot to take by the Barca chairman.

As happy as I was to see you lose him, there is absolutely no need for Barca to rub salt into a very ragged wound. They took full advantage of the unrest caused by Fab's desire to return to Barca and they used that to get him on the cheap. To now come out and brag about having done so is very poor.

Well if they feel that is so perhaps they may choose to stump up the extra £30m they feel they should have paid extra for him then.

We defiantly got a raw deal, on an open market with the likes of real, man city and Chelsea chasing him we would probably have got double what we got for him. But I believe the constant speculation and mind games by barca were not good for our club and I for one are glad he is gone. Not because I don't rate him, but because I believe it was harming the club both on and off the field. I don't however put the guy in the same bracket as bergkamp or Henry, or even vieira, I just believe they were better all round players, and he was a terrible captain, one of the worst choices wenger has ever made.

It is very annoying that even now barca are still having a go at our club, I suspect they are still extremely pissed off about the fact we got him in the first place, I also believe cesc should have opened his eyes to the situation, it was obvious to everyone that barca were not that bothered about getting him, yet they were constantly spouting there mouth of to unsettle the player. The thing that annoys me the most was cescs weakness, particularly to the barca players, he should have told them in private to keep their mouths shut and not show a lack of respect to arsenal, I think this shows why the guy was never captain material, a captain has to be strong and stand up and be counted, unfortunately he just wasn't that type of guy.

With regard to the OP about us being a laughing stock, I would call us even now with barca, after all we got a poor price for an excellent player, but we got the guy for £500,000 and sold him back to them for £36 million, I think that makes then a laughing stock more than us.

  11. Your problem always was that Fab would go to only one club, Barca. It meant that you were never going to get for him what he was worth, simply because there was no competition for him.

We have the same problem with Modric, should we not get back into the CL for next season, unless Levy can get him to agree to move to a European giant. If Modric continues to insist on moving only to Chelsea, we won't get a fair price for him, when he's eventually sold. If it is true that Chelsea offered £40 million for him in this window, that's the last time we'll see an offer of that magnitude.

Very good point, I actually think spurs would have been better to have taken the money, banked it and used to to go on a spending spree next summer, it will be interesting to see how modric performs this season, iv got a feeling he may have a poor season and chelsea will use that as an excuse to lower the fee.

Barca are cheeky gits sometimes. At least when the chavs unsettle players theyre prepaid to pay decent fees (torres 50m, Modric 40m). Barca unsettle players and then expect to sign them for a fraction of what theyre worth! They pinched masch of us for 20mil Eur when he was worth more to us, but was tapped up to the point where the twat refused to play against city for us. Fab was worth way more than you let him go for, especially when you consider Modric was valued at 40 million <yikes>

Lifestlyes of the realest, you ain't ruthless you bitch

I got a pine box just your size, I know it'll fit

Your whole life's a mistake, stop holdin' the pen

Kill yourself, come back as a man over again

  16. I doubt that Fab will give a rat's tail, to be honest. He'll have been indoctrinated in the belief that Arsenal stole him from Barca and that they were ripped off by having to pay £30 million to get "their" man back.

Remember, this is a player who, although he was your club captain, preferred being at the Spanish Grand Prix for your last game, rather than with his squad, his manager and his fans. He really could not care less about you if he tried. Don't waste your time by holding out any false hopes that he'll ever play for you again.

Move on, and learn to worship players who actually see it as their destiny to be at your club.

I speak from experience, as I have already lost all belief in Modric. I wish we had taken the money for him.

Fabregas should be booed if he returns to the emirites. He rocked the boat and basically made us get ripped off.

The problem with this is that Wenger was his mate, and so he let him go. Bit of a joke really, but at least the morale of the team isnt effected because players know that wenger will always do what is best for them.

However, I agree with you. I would of said £40m (minimum before cluases) or you dont get him. Then he can leave on free at the end of his contract like you say. If he wants to sulk and play badly for the last 3 years of his contract then fine. It will be his loss because he will waste the best years of his career and barca wont want him anyway unless he performs.

I dont understand selling him when we dont need the money, and we dont even need to worry about his large pay packet. It makes no sense, and I respect spuds stance on modric to say your staying and thats that. Modric will realise he has to play well in the end. Or he will waste his career.
