Cliffs Of Dover declared to run in the 1.50 at Haydock. Been waiting a long time to see him back over hurdles.
What a race the Betfair Chase could be...soooo can't wait although I read Nigel Twisters is going to walk the track in the morning as has concerns re the drying ground. I really hope Bristol De Mai runs although won't be backing him myself. Not sure if I will have a bet in this race to be honest ....
Looks like a great day at haydock tomorrow despite the poor turnout for the big race !! I shall be using my racing voucher (last years Xmas present from the kids) and will be in attendance to view the shootout .... or could thistlecrack yet spoil the party ? Please post all winners. Asap ... cheers lads
I assume they have no hosepipes at Haydock? They could have put a bit of water on, just to keep it from getting too quick surely?
License restrictions are probably in place to recharge groundwater after a long hot summer. Most irrigation licenses are only usable in a period of the year.
What a days racing we could have today, and not just at Haydock where im off to in a short while, but Ascot has a few good clashes as well... Anyway, for what it's worth here are my selections before I go... 12:10 - Cause Toujours 12:40 - Red Infantry or Little Bruce 1:15 - River Wylde or Kalondra 1:50 - Cliffs of Dover or Cyrus Darius 2:25 - Paisley Park 3:00 - Native River 3:35 - Braqueur D'or If truth be told i'm not overly keen on most of them as in some cases I can make a case for about 3/4 of them in the race, but only one of em can win, well technically a tied photo finish, but hey, lets not dwell on that... Good luck to all who are playing today and lets hope for some good racing action...
Superb days racing today, beers are chilled and I’m ready for the action to begin. My darts for today. 1.30 Asc Oscar Rose 1.50 Hay Cliffs Of Dover 2.25 Hay Bobo Mac 3.15 Asc Ozzie The Oscar EW Lucky 15. Might Bite in the big one at Haydock for me. Have a great weekend fellas, good luck all
Not had a punt outwith the Cheltenham Gold Cup or 'Le Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe' for many years however I am very tempted to have a large bet on Native River at 3/1 (or bigger?) today.
Thistlecrack is an interesting runner in the betfair. If he’s at his best and it’s a big if he could muller this lot. If he’s over his issues he has won first time out ,he will like the ground and he does stay all day. Basically he ticks all the boxes and I think the price is massive..
I was thinking the same but I think it is a massive ask after the issues he has had. I'm siding with Native River as he is a horse I love to bits. What they say about him on the Sporting Life racecard sums it up for me: "Hard as nails chaser". I think he has been unfairly labelled a mudlark and I hope he can confirm the Gold Cup form with Might Bite to dispel those thoughts. He has had an absolutely stellar career thus far and seems tailor made for Richard Johnson.
Morning, team. Away from the main action I’m really, really, really looking forward to seeing 2 horses run. However, both will be watching briefs as the prices are on the short side of short. I’ve been saying for a while that Mr Charlton has some lovely once raced types who could become decent 3YOs (since been monitoring this we have had a 9/4 winner and a 4/9 runner up) and the next off the old production line is RED IMPRESSION (2.00 Lingers Park). She bolted up by 3.75 lengths, on debut in a fillies maiden, last month and the form has since been boosted by the runner-up obliging next time. She looked very good that day and Red Impression is currently 40/1 for next terms 1,000 Guineas. The filly with the lovely name does carry a penalty for that success and is up against some old boy colts and geldings here but I’d expect her to win again this afternoon. For a humble working man, such as myself though, 4/11 is not a price to be taking. Watch her closely though, pilgrims. As I said earlier in the week HAZAAR (3.50 Ascot) got a glowing write-up a few week ago in a ‘Weekender’ Tom Lacey stable tour and my notes remember that he stated the unraced 4YO is working very well and will be ready first time out. The handler also thought the gelding by Flemensfirth will be competitive in Grade 1 hurdles by the end of this season. Backing this sort of horse is often the quickest way to the poor house and the hype has resulted in a dappy price but am most keen to see how he fares, troops. Good luck, crew.
Ol boy Tom Lacey has some nice horses though there is one I've been waiting for after he spoke in glowing terms about it's P2P win on the same day Sebastopol won his point. He indicated that this one was better than Sebastopol which is pretty high praise indeed. Energumene is the name of the horse but I can't find out anything about it. Anyone know? Great racing today but a fookin wedding means it will be sky+ much later on for me. I hate weddings. Good luck all and enjoy the day those who are attending. I must get to Haydock. Never been and it's only an hour and bit away.
Energumene is apparently now in training with a chap called Willie Mullins - no me neither. Currently 33/1 for the 2019 Champion Bumper.
Not sure if I agree with the at his best bit, he didn’t beat gold cup horses at his best and we have the first two from the Gold Cup here. Even at his very best I think I’d be with Might Bite and Native River against him today. I am in the Might Bite camp, the ground is in his favour, the trip will suit and BDM will probably take Native River on early too. Might Bite can be ridden for a late challenge and that should suit perfectly.
