If you like silly riddles, then solve this four legged chaser.

First letter sounds like half a nag’s slang,
An awkward sort dug up completes the word- jumbled will do.
Last word’s easy if you get the hang,
It’s his, or mine, or maybe belongs to you.

Too tough, tried for half an hour, all I came up with was Gold Chain, not right I know, also it's a hurdler not a chaser! :(

Back again. No idea Tam. Do the letters "dug up" form part of the name?
Doesn't help that the first line has me completely stumped

Surely the answer to the first part of the riddle is “gee”.
My brain is not wired to work cryptic, give the 9 letter word wheel and I am your man!

Hi Stick. Yes Gee is the first letter.
Then...what do you dig up and that also refers to a person who’s awkward.
    Then take it from there.

Surely the first part is G, from GG, since it states that it's the first letter.

An awkward sort that could be dug up would be a Sod. Mix it up and add it to G to get God's. Second part is belonging to various people so if it belongs to you you Own it.

God's Own is therefore my idea of the solution here. He won the Haldon Gold Cup on 6th November aged 10.
