Not how I remember it at all. Off the top of my head, when we signed him he had scored something like 10 from 16 games that season for East Fife. I have 100k in my head but the fee may have been lower, like 60k. He was pretty average, certainly no Steve Massey. After a few years, he went back to East Fife again.
£150k from memory which was colossal for City at the time. I believe we actually paid East Fife to take him back, we were certainly paying a big chunk of his wages whilst he was playing for them. Remember one Paul Hunter goal, or I might have dreamt this. Man City at home first game of the season ? They battered us for 89 mins but couldn't score, then we broke away and won a corner. Hunter jumped up for the ball and the ball hit him on his arse and bounced into the net, 1-0 to City.
He often was in matches he started. A high enough percentage to make it reasonably predictable that he would be substituted before the end of a match.
I've done it many times. Yet he continues to promote it as fact. Myself and a number of others have done so. He basically puts forward his opinion and assumes it's fact, when actually it's completely and utterly open to interpretation and guess work. There is no way to say Ehab saved us, as the other possibility, I.e Assem backing Bruce could have lead us to been a stable Premier League club or it could have lead us to being broke. Just because him and others state if as fact doesn't make it true. It isn't. Unless he has come up with a way to go back in time change the events of the past see the outcome and change them back. Or he has found a way to enter an alternate universe, then i apologise and admit he is right. So in summary, it's bollocks. I should have just copied Cheshire Ben's post.
Fair enough. Steve Bruce given another xx million, may have kept us in the prem. May have. And if he didn't? I don't think he would have, an opinion and not one I am stating as fact. All buts and if my auntie had balls she'd be my uncle.
I honestly didn't realise how many apologists there were on here. They've kind of snuck up on me. We'll get where we need to be, soon enough. CTID
Silly ****? Oh well Silly ****? Well no one can say I haven't tried with you. Go on and get it out of your system fella
Go to games stop ****ing moaning about how the Allams are mean to you and I'm sure we can make it up. Remember it's only a game for **** sake.
I'm absolutely certain you know my stance on this. I shouldn't have to say anymore. Do your own thing mate. Always do your own thing and good luck with it
I'm still trying to work out the negative implication of taking his son off, as if that reflects some form of favoritism. [emoji848]
They all started leaving in the 12 months after Bruce did. Don’t think it’s a “convenient excuse” but more the players didn’t want to be anywhere near Ehab and his running of our club into the ground. They all enjoyed being here: you see that from the full interview. We had a close-knit group of players. Nobody blames Robertson for leaving to Liverpool. He was always going to end up on that level. Robertson nearly went to Burnley the January beforehand and Stoke came in first that summer. It wasn’t about out-growing us. It was just about getting out - like the rest did.
Steve Bruce would have got robbo signed up before he was anywhere near a year left of his contract. FACT Steve Bruce created a great camaraderie with the players and staff. As greeny says these players signed for Steve Bruce. Ive never read such rubbish from obi, which is a surprise. No surprise from the other cock on here.
We've had a real mixed bag from Scotland. I remember Hateley had been a great player for Rangers but we got him after a poor second spell, rumours of getting McCoist but he brought in Brian McGinty, his only signing? Darryl Duffy flopped as well but later Daniel Cousin, Alan McGregor and Robertson all brilliant signings.
