BRILLIANT post General and if I was one of the 'sought-after' youff players and be far more tempted to stay put in January and possibly get promoted, or even a trip to Wembley. Just seen this and whilst it's a lengthy read, it's certainly worth reading - https://www.independent.co.uk/sport...unty-daniel-farke-stuart-webber-a8625396.html
Certainly worth a read, JMF. We occasionally refer to what SW has done and is doing, but he gets on with such a quiet determination that it can often be overlooked. He has created this squad with its mix of young hungry players and older hungry players looking to recover their careers. He has also brought in DF to forge that squad into a coherent whole with a clear plan based on flexibility and movement. It's taken a year to pull it all together but it's working big time now. The pundits aren't taking much notice because it isn't the English way of doing things (Leeds and Derby are that), so it's just a good run that'll fall apart soon. The article sees through that to the hard core of our current success which has been built on interchangeability. If a player is injured, we have another who can slot in seemlessly. Should DF move on, SW has a shortlist of replacements ready. The only worry is if SW moves on, but with the new set-up working alongside his wife, I sense he's here for the long term. Let the procession roll on!
Couldn't agree more Rick and as you say, SW certainly seems committed to NCFC beyond this season and hopefully DF will continue as his implementor for a few more years. I think the title of the article is VERY telling and let's hope we pick up a few more points this month - 3 tomorrow would be FANTASTIC for starters and as long as we continue to play as we have done in recent weeks, the fans will still get behind the team.
A striker possibility should the unmentionable happen and Pukki leaves: footballleagueworld.co.uk/norwichs-ready-made-pukki-replacement-is-waiting-for-them-at-the-madejski-stadium/ Would reckon he'd have a hefty price tag though. Six goals for struggling Reading is not to be sniffed at.
Pukki says he's happy at NCFC - https://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwi...-transfer-interest-from-galatasaray-1-5780738 #ibelievehim
Has Webber commented on the Saints rumour yet? One of the Tampa-traveling Archant reporters must have asked the question by now.
Haven't seen any comments from SW. Farke said "relax," these rumours always happen when a team is doing well. If the rumour is true, SW can use it as a bargaining chip with the club. But I think he would be crazy to go to Southampton. https://www.pinkun.com/norwich-city...surfaces-following-city-s-fine-form-1-5780349
An excellent article on why we SW should stay at CR a bit longer – http://norwichcity.myfootballwriter...ar-with-mr-webber-reportedly-on-southamptons/ GM had a very sound argument yesterday, but as things stand, Saints (along with Nathan Redmond) are rooted at the wrong of the table and you have to wonder how long before they are looking for a new manager etc and if they can stave off the dreaded ‘R’ word. DDF(Dave Freezer) is the Archant hack in Tampa. If you download the PinkUn app to your mobile, he posts regular updates.
The manager change at Saints is exactly why I think if they do want SW they'll be moving quite quickly. They'll want him in to have a say on which German he would prefer they hire! I'll check out the Pinkun app. Cheers. I have to say I'm still siding with General M here. I can't see why he wouldn't jump at it (sadly).
We can just agree to differ and IMO he'd get a better offer from a team regularly in the top 10 if he sees this season out at NCFC.
Oh I think it's possible he would but I can also see enough reasons against for it probably not happening. reputation- he jumps again with a job incomplete and that starts to possibly give him a reputation. Wanting to see us into the premier. it looks possible, must be a tasty bonus and pay rise in it for him and at 34 he will know he has time. We are a good fit for his philosophy and as JMF says, maybe he stays longer and a bigger fish comes calling. Maybe he is happy in his current position and so is his newly promoted Mrs. Bah!
So'ton is a long way from Norwich and I'm sure Mrs Webber won't be keen to jump ship right now. However with the recent accounts released, Saints know what SW earns and can very easily triple it. I'd be thinking if he has another head coach in mind that he can offload Hughes and turn Saints around post-Xmas and look the saviour. I hope he stays but I'm worried about this rumour as there's plenty to it that makes sense. I'm just hoping it's 'international-break-fishing-for-stories' journalism, but what would help, is SW coming out in Tampa and saying it's all BS.
I hear what you're saying HQMC, but not everyone’s main motivator is financial remuneration - unlike MOST footballers. Mine was job satisfaction and commute in that order and I was extremely lucky in finding both in my last post before retirement’ living within 1.5 miles from work. I read somewhere that Pukki WANTED to play for NCFC, even though he could have got a higher salary elsewhere (ALL credit to SW for pulling that one off and he certainly seems to be enjoying playing for us as much as we enjoy watching him play in yellow and green (or whichever 'kit' is chosen for a particular game) and 'delivering the goods'. Both his and JR's predatory instincts are superb and you only have to look at the difference in our 'attempts at goal/on target' between last year and this to see how we are benefitting and I know that DF is on record saying how much of a concern it was last season and was reflected in our meagre GF column!!
Starting with SW. It's possible that his leaving Huddersfield for us suggests that he might do the same again. Against that is that he could have wanted to be with his wife here and have carte blanche for a complete restructuring. Would the Saints offer that while they're struggling to survive? I doubt it. They don't see a SD now and it'd mean a huge upheaval. As for Pukki and co, I agree that we now have the players who can score the goals we need in the race for promotion. Even the midfielders and defenders are chipping in with goals in a way they didn't do last season. Full credit to SW and DF for that.
