Irvine to do one (for a while)...

    Hull City could be without Jackson Irvine for more than a month of the season with the Australian set to represent his country at the 2019 Asian Cup.

    Held in the United Arab Emirates, the Asian Cup is due to take place throughout January and February, which is of course comes midway through the Championship season.

    As such, should Irvine be selected to represent the Socceroos, the current holders of the trophy after winning the 2015 edition on home soil, the Tigers will be without one of their key players for a crucial period of the campaign.

    The tournament will kick off on January 5 in Abu Dhabi, with Australia due to start their defence the following day against Jordan in Al-Ain. Graham Arnold’s side are also scheduled to play Syria and Palestine in Group B and are being tipped to progress to the knockout stages without great difficulty.

    The final of the tournament will take place on February 1 and as one of the favourites to win, Australia are expected to go deep into the competition.

    That's the Asia Trophy. The same one we were in a few years back. Think it's a PL thing set up to promote the game over there?

    I should have worded it better

    He had to win it to avoid national service back in SK

    Think they played iran in the final

    For all these international breaks some teams still end up losing players to some international tournaments anyway lol. I couldn't care less about international football myself, yet supporters get screwed over twice with boring breaks and still missing players for games.

    Jackson sat for 90 minutes on the bench last Saturday whilst the Aussies were playing. Next up Lebanon tomorrow evening, hope he gets some game time, its a hell of a long way to go to not get game time.
