Not many worse things out there than losing a pet, especially a dog, really hits hard as they truly are man's best friend.

Sorry for your losses, Sky and G4E.

I can imagine how painful it is in normal circumstances, at the moment my life is a big **** off black hole. Unfortunately the dog isn't the worst part.

Took me some major inner strength to not just push the **** it button, trust.

The number of foreign players permitted in Premier League squads could be cut from 17 to 12 if a proposal from the FA on how to navigate Brexit is approved.

The plans, which will be presented to the 20 Premier League chairmen on Thursday, would oblige top tier clubs to ensure at least half of their 25-man squad is 'homegrown'.

Informal discussions on how to deal with Brexit when Premier League clubs are so reliant on freedom of movement for European talent have been ongoing for months.

The FA and the Premier League are understood to be keen to come to an agreement quickly to avoid a situation where all EU players have to fulfil the same criteria as non-EU players do now in order to get a work permit.

Clubs are currently allowed up to 17 overseas players in their squads but the FA's proposal would reduce that number by five, to 12.

I think it will be a good thing for English football. May be stop clubs from just buying **** foreign players and force better scouting of lower divisions and make clubs do more with their academies.

I personally couldnt give two ****s what nationality the players are, as long as the game entertains me. No club buys "**** foreign players" to avoid playing english kids!
This will force clubs to have ****ty english youngsters instead of better players so I am vehemently against it.

If there were stats of failed foreign players that people just forget about, surely if there is money going into lower divisions to buy players is better all round. More trust for academy players. Chelsea are the worst culprit for not giving academy players a chance. You have had loads of dross foreign players. Where opportunity could have gone to home grown talent.

If this rule was already in place...we would have had a few PL titles by now

Pool would be mid table and Milner would be their MVP

If the rule was already in place all Spurs English players would've been bought by the actual big clubs a couple of seasons ago. Except for Dier, he would still be there

You know that's not true...anyway, your club would do a lot better if that rule was implemented

I don't think it would really. Would just mean the clubs with all the money would hoover up all the domestic talent as they would have to. They would still have **** loads of money and nowhere to spend it if they had hit their foreign quote so why wouldn't they sign all the half decent English players?

It would be good for the national team and lower league clubs, but in the short term at least the quality of the PL would go down. The Bundesliga did a similar thing a few years ago and the league turned to **** for awhile, but now there are lots of good young German players (the u21 team with Ozil/Khedira in was probably the first generation of it) as the clubs invest loads in their academies as they cant afford to compete with La Liga/PL for the better foreign players so develop them at home. The Bundesliga is better for it, but it also only has 1 mega rich club

That could happen in the PL, but I can't see them wanting the league to suffer in terms of quality for a few years.

Clubs like Chelsea and Arsenal are the ones most at risk by this rule if it happens.

I don’t think the league would suffer massively. As the foreign players here would have to be decent. Only players like Mahrez or the lad that went from Watford to Everton May not have been discovered.

    No, they don't.

They do it because it's easier and cheaper. Not to avoid it.

How is buying a foreigner cheaper than using an English kid, who you already have, from your academy?

It just is mate, that's why English clubs do it. There is also the issue that once they are getting a decent wage they aren't out on the piss and shoving it up their nose like the locals tend to do

You honestly don't think African's, former eastern block europeans etc. are on less initial wages than British equivalents and or that it's simpler poach from other academies than to invest in and produce our own?
