I'm afraid Austin talks crap. To quote him 'At 2-0 the game is over'. Errr, Hello, this is Southampton, I wouldn't have bet on that mate.
Thanks for the warning. I’ll get Mrs S to tie me to the chair first so I don’t chuck the telly out the window
Yes it was a penalty......but no guarantees it would be scored but Charlie’s disallowed goal did indeed go in.
No guarantee, of course. But in all likelihood, it wouldn't have just been a penalty. It probably would have been a second yellow for Bertrand too. And it possibly would have seen us fall apart, just as we did we they duly did equalise.
Agree with SS and this. He has been better. He does need to score or assist. He is our best player at setting up shocking misses.
I would be interested to know what training refs get in how to speak with players? At every contentious decision Hooper's approach seems to be one of 'I am not engaging in conversation with you, how dare you approach me and question my decision'. This may be what the suggested approach is, to make a decision and then be confident in sticking with it, but I can see how his manner after each mistake enraged the players even more.
Forget about the poor officiating and the what ifs, it was a better performance than of late full of passion and some good football too. The conditions contributed to a few errors and stray passes and Watford are a better team than I thought that they would be this season but it is disappointing that we couldn't hold on to a lead at home yet again for the win. It might be a confidence thing and a couple of wins turns things around but we do need to get a few more points on the board pretty soon.
And away to Fulham might just be the perfect game to try and get a win. (Especially if we then follow it up by beating a Leicester reserve XI a few days later.)
Did you notice the really aggressive & imo appalling celebration by Doucoure in front of Northam after they scored? Probably a little heated because he was so aggrieved by the penalty decision. Selective memory ?? ...... 13th Jan, 90th min equaliser
