Ah phew, it was just the Austin #meltdown, said something like "a passionate post-match interview from Charlie". Luckily someone else realised it was the most embarrassing thing ever.
Can someone who's social media savvy let me know when the hilarious meme's turn up please, I may want one for my avatar.
I thought Lemina was our best player, but Gabbi, Maya, Hoedt, McCarthy and Cedric all played very well too. I liked Gabbi in that new role, coming in off the right hand side. Playing slightly deeper meant that he could actually get himself involved (rather than waiting for passes to him never coming), and you could see glimpses of his quality as a result. In fact, aside from PEH's first half and the fact that Charlie offers nothing as an outlet, I thought the side in general played well. I know Watford had chances, but I think we'd have been worthy of the three points if we'd held on. You can see the lack of confidence in the players though, because we somewhat fell apart after conceding. It was clearly a big blow (obviously). Thereafter it was just a case of what would come first, the full-time whistle or the Watford winner. I'd have maybe liked a little bit more from Armstrong, in that number 10 role (in fact, if 4-2-3-1 is the formation we're going to go with from now on, then we'll need a lot more from him in that role, if we're going to start scoring more). But he did alright, especially given how little he has been involved for us so far. He just seemed a little bit reserved at times, not quite brave enough on the ball. I need to see a replay of the disallowed goal, because I clearly missed Maya altogether. All I saw was Cedric (I think) crossing for Austin to smash in. But at the same time, on first look it looked a stonewall Watford penalty. I was amazed when a corner was given. (That said, before seeing a replay, I was also amazed at PEH being called for the dive vs Leicester...)
If last season taught us anything it's that, with the team we have, only 100% passion will win us a game. 99% isn't enough. It is for Citeh but not for us. Charlie's almost there!
Referee got both wrong. We got a huge break with the pen, stonewall and Bertrand should have been off for a 2nd yellow. However the disallowed was diabolical refereeing.
And I feel obligated to mention this given that I've been banging on about it for nearly two years now: that's his natural position! That's where he saw most of his action in Italy! We have spent two years trying to figure out how to use Gabbiadini, and at no point did the thought "play him where he was good" cross the minds of three consecutive managers!
I'm praying that Ings' injury is nothing serious. I know that Long is hardly the greatest player in the world, but six weeks out injured is a long time when that includes December. So if we'll be missing Ings for a while too, that then means we'll be seeing a fair amount of Charlie. Which I really, really don't want.
Very much so Only saw parts but he looked much more comfortable out there rather than as a striker, hardly surprising though as many of us on here have said they don't see him as a 'proper' striker.
