Really looking forward to seeing how Amy Murphy's stable star gets on tomorrow. I may have to put at £1 on a 1/3 so I can watch it.
Lieutenant Henderson had Jenkins in against Kalashnikov at the entry stage but didn’t declare him. Maybe, ho-ho-ho, he was scared of the big gun. Boom, boom and all that… Just a quick word on yesterday. I was disappointed to see Casablanca Mix just pipped in Market Rasen’s Listed Chase (still think she is up to obliging in Graded affairs by the end of the term, incidentally) but the regular readers’ frowns were quickly turned upside down as Lust For Glory obliged in grand, and I do mean grand, style at Newbury. She’s one to follow for the rest of the season and now as low as 10’s for the ‘Mares Novice’ heat at the Cheltenham Festival. Good luck to those wagering today.
The Lieutenant has still got her in next weekend’s Grade 3 ‘Bet Victor Gold Cup’ although you would have to say that Rather Be looks like being the stable’s number 1 in that heat. I think it was The Bard himself who first pondered, ‘Rather Be or not Rather Be that is the question’ and I’d be prepared to say he will go into next Saturday’s highlight as the most likely winner. Rather Be’s last racecourse appearance saw him just touched off in the novice handicap, at the Festival, and off 149 he still looks very nicely treated (the winner of that Festival heat has, incidentally, won at Listed level on his only subsequent racecourse appearance). Rather Be is currently 10/1 and that would appear more than fair to my eye. Should he win I wonder if the Cheltenham racegoers will adapt the old Beatles classic and croon, ‘Rather Be, Rather Be, Rather Be, Rather Be. He trained by a man of wisdom, Rather Be’, as he walks to the winner’s enclosure. I hope they do…
Lust for glory .... the owner lives just around the corner from me ... I spoke with one of his staff that ride the horses out during off season when they return from Henderson’s ... (I’m hoping I’ve qualified my source enough sir Barney?) ... the buzz is definitely loud around this horse ... get on early !!
hi fellas! warwick,1 25: THE NAME EVADES ME certainly lost no caste in defeat last time out at cheltenham, being second to an above-average and fast improving rival, and that is clearly the best form here.big shout to go one better today.. hexham,1 40: surely a match vs MISTIROC and weather front, but the former was a very useful handicapper on the level, and though no hurdling experience, should go well today..
hexham,2 10: RIVER ICON shaped very much, like this longer trip may well suit last time out,and should go well here..
warwick,2 30: there are some unexposed sorts here, with the potential to do better, now handicapping.PETERBOROUGH is one of them, having met some classy rivals in defeat, and surely has a future in handicaps..
Top notch as always, old boy. I seem to recall Lust For Glory cost around a quarter of a million so really if she was to justify that price tag a win would have been in order yesterday. She did do it very well though and continues to be well supported for the ‘Mares Novice’. Alternatively will connections be more mega ambitious and go for the Supreme or even Ballymore???
Sounds about right for me. Going to try Sign of War 6/1 at Fontwell then that's probably me done for the day depending how it goes
I’ll ask around the owners stable or even the owner if I see him in the local tomorrow ... I’ll be back
