Country music festival. Happening too frequently now. People just going to watch live music.

    Terrible tragedy - again.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, if everyone there had a gun the shooter wouldn't have had chance to kill 12 people.

Oh, just seen it was in a bar. Didn't somebody make guns illegal in bars? Whoops

We drove through there this week. Scary ****. The 2 weeks we were in SoCal there were several multiple "gang" shootings not reported outside of local news....

I was in the British Army nearly 20 years. Very rarely did we kiĺl or loose 12 people in a single day....

A single person may not have the chance to kill 12 in one go but I’m willing to bet the number of gun deaths would go up.

Drunk people with guns, what could possibly go wrong?

Killers choose these easy targets such as bars, schools, churches etc. because the law makes them easy targets, with very little chance of encountering resistance at places where guns are banned.

I think it raises the question about whether at least door and bar staff should be armed.

It’s not because people are unarmed that these places become targets, it’s because they’re large gatherings of unsuspecting people in areas of low security. There’s plenty of unarmed people in other places such as sports stadia but these are rarely attacked because the security is much higher.

I agree, it is probably time for professional doorman or private security to be allowed to carry weapons though.

i mean, when does it end?

    mcdoanlds staff carying ar 15's?
your waiter at a reastaurant carrying a glock?
thousands upon thousands of bars and places people hang out at

it never ends, guns are the easy target and rightly so, but what makes a in his case ex marine decide to kill 12 people and himself

that is the problem and question

We got back from California on Wednesday after a 10 day vacation. We spent part of it in Ventura County and drove past/through Thousand Oaks four times.

I lover California, in fact having travelled extensively around the US I really like most of it. However, I find the attitude of a significant proportion of the populations attitude towards guns baffling.

I'm particularly confused by the NRA who's reaction to these mass shootings is always to call for more guns and more people to be armed!?!

Great country is the USA. I've been lucky to go there on at least a dozen occasions. In that time I've never seen one hint of trouble....One time in the 80's I was advised not to visit Oakland, California, because of the gun crime but other than that nothing...Yanks are some of the nicest people you'd ever meet. But I guess that in a population of 320 million were guns are easily accessible, you'll find some nutters.

I must admit Airlie, my comments were satirical. Towing to the Americans usual overwhelming response that if more people had guns it wouldn’t have happened.

Wasn’t one of the dead a policeman? Presumably with a gun. Well that puts paid to that ridiculous logic.

Americans will say “you can’t talk look at your problems with knife crime”. Well how many mass stabbings do we suffer? Not so easy to walk into a bar with a knife and kill 12 people before someone stops you. Whereas any idiot can be empowered by picking up a gun, pointing it at people and pulling the trigger, knowing that last bullet will prove to be an instant, painless escape from facing any consequences.

The only real solution to America’s mass shooting epidemic is for everyone to walk round in a military style tactical outfit with a bullet proof vest and helmet, at all times, until they’re ready to admit what the real problem is and that it needs sorting out, which could take 24 hours or longer, if ever. Probably never. “But it’s our right!”

    Not confusing in the slightest.

The more guns made and sold, the more money they make, and the more money they can bribe politicians with.

They don't give a **** about citizens. It's all about the Benjamins.

To be fair, most of the country is beautiful. Just a shame about a lot of the people who live in it.

How many times have you been to Venezuela? I've only been there twice, which is two times more than you've been there.
Have you ever visited another country?
