We need home grown players though. Well, it would be preferable with our current squad makeup.
That costs a premium, we need to start to realise that.

We probably missed our shot with him when he left Leeds. Our transfer dealings have been a bit all over the place in the last 2 or 3 seasons. We sold off Townsend, Bentaleb, Mason, Pritchard etc and CCV, Onomah, Edwards and the like haven't stepped up as yet. That left space for a Cook or a Maguire. However, we've been off chasing Clinton N'Jie, Gazzanigga, GKN and Foyth.

I don't think that we have the money to buy a Cook or Maguire now, barring a massive incoming sponsorship programme or a big sale. Equally, we dropped the ball regarding Grealish and Barkley. I've read that the club think the Academy can service our home grown requirements. Maybe that's so, but buying the odd Dele Alli or Eric Dier, as well, can't hurt. There's some top young talent out there and we should be trying might and mane to get our hands on some of them before their careers take off.

Not to mention James Maddison. Another one who would have fit right in imo

We were also rumoured to be very interested in Tammy Abraham, although I'm really not sure whther he's all that?

We were in for Maddison when he left Coventry but he preferred to get game time at Norwich, as did Maguire when leaving Hull for Leicester. I can't argue with the logic. Leicester currently look like we did a few years ago - a club putting its faith in young English talent. With Chilwell, that's a pretty good base of young English players in the team. They'll serve Leicester a lot better than the Slimani's or Mussa's they bought 3 years ago.

We need to get back to looking like a club who want to promote young English talent or risk losing more and more of it abroad. Getting Skippy in the team with Winksy will help that. Hopefully Troy Parrott can make a rapid rise too? The future is the academy but we need to stop buying more low level foreign players as a punt.

Yeah, it's annoying that players won't come to us due to wanting more game time but then they will also not come to us to get more game time instead choosing to sit on, for example, Chelsea's bench or be sent out on loan

That's our predicament right now. We can pay players a good wage to be successful but Chelsea can pay players like Drinkwater or Barkley (last season) to sit in the stands. That shouldn't be possible given their stadium and recent failures to make the CL. However, the buy-to-loan business they've been running alongside Citeh has given them riches to pay massive wages and transfer fees.

If UEFA restrict that to 6 or 10 players, the whole thing looks a lot more equal and will restrict some of the player hoarding that goes on now. Whether they have the balls to act against the worst offenders, who are the clubs threatening to **** off and form a Super League, we shall have to wait and see....

Maybe on the pitch, but there are ongoing rumours about him being a complete prick. No idea if they're true, but they don't seem to go away.

These may have had something to do with the club never actually following up our initial interest...

Because it's been a while since the papers ran a "Poch used to manage this club, so therefore..." story, El Gol Digital report that we're considering activating the £25m release clause of Espanyol striker Borja Igleseas, who has scored six goals in elevent games since his summer move from Celta Vigo.

You get the feeling I find this exceptionally doubtful...

    Dembele ruled out until January.

Yeah that decision not to sign a CM in the summer is looking better day-by-day.

One thing worth considering for January is seeing if we can make a move for teams that are underperforming this season - for example

    Bundesliga

    Leverkusen (currently 13th)
    Jonathan Tah

    Schalke (currently 14th)
    Breel Embolo

    Stuttgart (currently 18th, i.e. bottom)
    Benjamin Pavard

    La Liga

    Valencia (currently 15th)
    The Habitually Linked Geoffrey Kondogbia

    Ligue 1

    Monaco (currently 19th)
    Youri Tielemans

In the rush to dub Winks "Winksiesta" that leaves us trying to make a nickname for Skipp based off Xavi or Pirlo

Or we could try and make HuddleSkipp a thing...

    Skippi

This could be a blessing in disguise the way he's been playing. It leaves us light of options but it might improve us.
