    I heard a rumour suggesting that the Fat COCKney has removed our iconic sign from the East Stand!?

    Please tell me its just being cleaned or summut! It is iconic, it is SJP and it is NUFC!! Anyone know the SP?

    They have taken it down. If he puts Sports Direct up then I'm going to hunt the **** down

    It's already been confirmed that it's being replaced with identical lettering, it was in some way damaged apparently.

    If they are indeed replacing or cleaning the lettering then fine, but to do anything else will be utterly shameful. I know sponsorship and commercialism is part of football but there can be a sensible, thoughtful limit surely?

    They were actually being removed during the day of the transfer deadline and for something like this to coincide with an already disappointing day is just in keeping with the style of this regime.

    Conspiracy theorists would say the sign was hauled down that day because they knew no new players would be set for any signing photographs in front of it at SJP!
    Talk about dismantling a club's image and heritage letter by letter...

    Sorry guys – I don't like to be cynical and negative about this stuff but it is very sad when the people in charge breed such a culture of mistrust. In terms of them making bizarre and frankly embarrassing decisions we can't really expect anything but the worst.

    That doesn't surprise me - I reckon the original lettering was fine but as they've got the big cherry picker out etc etc

    Wonder what happened to the old letters - could they be auctioned off for proceeds to Bobby's Foundation?
    Otherwise check out the skips around the back at SJP as nothing would surprise me with Ashley and Co!
    Didn't the penalty spot from Whitehart Lane fetch a rude amount of £1000's?

    If that's the case, what's the "NEWCASTLE UNITED" lettering going to be worth!!!????

    There's Sports Direct advertising everywhere. There's no need to add it to the East Stand as well. Although, this is MA we're talking about.
