i think this result is the league result of the season, and has caterpulted town into 5th place.
morecambe are clear leaders over crawley, great 4-1 result against the gas, and millers in 3rd who had a dismal defeat at swindon.
in the play off places are gulls, shrews, gills and the wombles.of the rest daggers have 10 from 6 as well as southend ,chelt and burton 9 from 6 and vale on 8 points but a healthy gd of 3.
the rest are journeymen teams and at this stage it is difficult to see them progressing, but look out for crewe who had a good result
so well done nicky wroe's 90th min penalty and well done ben smith for saving a penalty. 0-0 would have done but a loggerheads day at gillingham is the icing on the cake. gt and the team must be cockerhoop and so they should be. well done shrews floreat salopia

looking ahead we entertain hereford next week who had a win today then a week on tuesday at the gas, followed by 2 more testing games, vale away 17/9 and gulls at home 24/9. we need3 points agaist hereford and another loggerheads day at the gas, come the end of sepember we may be in a promo place but whisper it gently. as for the arsenal, bring it on

Great result for Town in a game, I must confess, I thought they'd lose.

Also nice to see Bristol getting decimated, I think they're less likely to go up than Crawley, so I was hoping for a Brizzle loss, and wasn't disappointed. I'd rather see Bristol go up than Crawley but the league, but they have such a good squad and have started well, so I can only see Crawley going up.

Crawley beat Rovers 4-1 atcham not morambe, or I have read your post wrong.

Wroe had to score the penalty twice, great composure.

This is agreat result at a place we have not traditionally done well at. That is three league wins on the trot - lets hopw we can keep that going against Hereford. I hate those early kick-offs - it seems to suck all the atmosphere out of the game. I do not see why we cannot kick off at the normal time - surely there is no great risk of any serious disorder. After a stuttering start our front pairing of Morgan and Gornell are getting better every game. Ainsworth has become much more consistent and when Wright starts to really fire we should have an impressive forward line. I think honorable mention must also go to Wroe and Mcallister who have looked stronger this year and to Grandison (despite giving away a penalty today) for his defensive improvement. Despite the league games probably being more important we also have the Arsenal game to look forward to. I see Wenger only decided to strengthen his squad after they were drawn against us! I hope the lads do us proud and push the ball about and show those Premier League fans that we are no pushovers.

good result, i thought we would come unstuck against the Gills but we pipped it at the end, we need to be a bit more convincing though if we are to make our mark.....

lol @ greenhousemeadowman, last season against hereford they stopped serving beer at half-time coz of all the.trouble. So yes early kickoff was always on the cards.

    Chaos,
That was one of only two home games I missed last year so I was not aware of any trouble. What usually happens though is twenty or thirty people looking as if they might threaten something but it actually is handbags stuff when it comes down to it. The authorities should not be so heavy-handed and should trust the club and its stewards to deal with any problems that might occur. The days of large-scale disorder at football matches are well in the past.

Opposing clubs will start to utilise grandisons lat minute-chop defending if town arn't careful. I know he has improved and with confidence and coaching I think he will be a star.

    On that note...

I had to work and missed the last 4 minutes of the game on the radio. Is there a on demand service or anything for Radio Shropshire or any way I can listen to it!?

Great win and nicking it at the end was a nice reversal of that miserable Wembley day. Well done Wroe for showing such composure, twice.

We seem to be getting steadily better and 11 points from 6 games is bang on target for 85 points and promotion. Keep it going boys.

Vanner - if the iPlayer doesn't have it there might be a bit of a rerun on Tuesday night's 7:00 sports show.

Did anyone know why Morgan got booked?

Well done to Wroe for keeping his nerve, as someone mentioned elsewhere 'he must have ice running through his veins"!!!

Strange comment. The level of pay has nothing to do with it. Within his profession, those two pens were moments of extreme tension and very easy for that to affect his performance.

A surgeon, or teacher, or fireman or whatever could have comparable moments in their careers. Simply being professional doesn't mean they won't make mistakes at such times.
