Don't think this will go down well with Liverpool, or some other clubs. Get in an inexperienced loanee and as soon as his confidence is shot then just ship him back. Will other clubs want to send us their inexperienced players?
Did you ever read what the Reds' fans thought of him? They rate him and reckoned we were getting a good GK.
If we loan a player who we find is not ready to play at this level, then it's in the best interest of us and the loaning club, that he goes back and gets a move elsewhere.
Fair enough, for us. But I hope J.W's fears (about effect on L'pool - and others) are mistaken. Because we will have to count on getting loan players in, with the transfer budget being tight.
I just think it's a hasty decision to send him back after 3 games, we knew what we were getting and comitted to having him for a season. Gulacsi hasn't had a fair go at it in my opinion. And no, he isn't '****.'
There's no sentiment in football, if he's not good enough then he has to go back. I'm sure Liverpool wouldn't want him sat on our bench all season so if he isn't going to play it makes sense that he goes back so they can do whatever they see fit with him.
Normally I would agree with that, but frankly, he's been poor in pretty much every game he's played for us. Not just league games, but pre seasons too, he was utterly appalling at Leeds and the defenders obviously have no confidence in him. At Leeds, Rosie and Chester were screaming at him in the first half for being indecisive and he absolutely gifted Leeds goals two and three, he's simply not ready to play at this level and there's no point in pretending otherwise.
He needs to spend another season in a league one side. He doesn't work in our team as we are too inexperienced at the back (centre half). Thought Basso was very good today, I didn't feel nervous.
I think it's fair to say that if Gulasci played regularly we'd haemorrhage points. And what do points equal? Prizes.
That's fair enough, and I agree he's generally been poor. If their confidence in him is so low that we have to send him back after 3 games, so be it, but I think he's showed signs of promise and should have been given more time. Let's just hope this El Hadary guy is decent
If he doesn't speak English I already don't want him no matter how solid he is. Communication with the back line is vital for a keeper even more so with our young CB pairing. I think we should sign an army general for a keeper.
He might speak perfectly good English, maybe it's just his Hull that's a bit dodgy, it was only me he was speaking to. He seems a very nice bloke, he was excited to be in the club members bar and his record is exceptional, I think he'll be a decent addition.
He was fully fit at the start of last season and was scoring again. The rest of the season he was injured so i'd imagine he's put on a few pounds.
I dont think Gulasci actual ability is the issue, it seems more a personality / communication thing. At Bellend Road BEFORE that screw up he was getting huge abuse from our players about just not speaking to toehm. He seemed to have no communication sklills whatsoever and any defender at any level will tell you that is essential.
El Hadary is the player who has sparked the Celtic/Sion argument. Sion seem to have been banned frrom signing players as a result of signing him but they did and played them against Celtic. "Sion signed five players while the club were still under a transfer ban imposed by Fifa after breaching rules over the signing of Egypt goalkeeper Essam El-Hadary three years ago." - BBC website. Hope we do it properly.
thats sion being twats not hadary by the sound of it, he just signed a contract, they werent allowed to sign him.
I guess we were all hoping Gulacsi was a Mannone replica, but unfortunately he's no way near as good.
