Not the best game we've played. I guess the rain had a lot to do with that. Great game by Emi, and Cantwell continues to impress me.
Even when (if) Hanley is fully fit, he'll have a hell of a job to displace Zimmers and Klose in recent weeks. With Tettey in front of them, allowing Aarons and Lewis to bomb forward, things are looking quite solid in that department. Krul had another life when Maupay(?) hit the bar from 4 yards out.
Yes, well done DD! 3rd on goal difference, but joint 2nd on points! Begin to believe with one third of the season over. OTBC!
Even a win in his debut match leaves them rooted to the bottom, 6 points needed to get out of the relegation zone! Seems like we've ground out a result again. Shame about the penalty miss, would have made everything more comfortable - the clean sheet is good though!
If Sheffield United hadn't equalised in injury time, we'd be top of the league now. Perhaps a lesson learned back then?
At the start of the season I posted to say Farke must go. Shows what an idiot I am. Not just because we're in the play off positions after a fantastic run, but because we have such a young side and Farke has had the courage to blood the youngsters. People used to talk about how Alex Neil was good with young players, but he never showed the same kind of trust in them. Whatever happens this season, the future looks bright as long as we don't have to sell.
It looks as if there is no outstanding team this year in the Champs (compared, eg, to Wolves last season), so we should have as good a chance as anybody. I think maybe 85 points will be enough this time for automatic. There are lots of teams I can see getting somewhere between 75-85 (Middlesbrough, Sheff Utd, Derby, Leeds, WBA etc), but no one who looks good enough to clock up 90. OTBC!
The icing on the cake is that the three wins this week were all against sides who, on their day, can give you a a) good game / b) serious seeing to. It's not like there was a, with respect, Rotherham or Burton Albion in there.
I agree. Teams win and then lose. One third of the season gone and few teams are showing any consistency. Strangely, we're one of them. The others are Sheffield United, Birmingham and QPR. The latter two have followed us up the table of late. Automatic promotion is now a possibility but we need to keep that consistency going for the whole of the season. A big ask, but the prize is great.
F yeah! Cracking result. Performance sounded a bit of a trudge, but got the 3 points and kept that clean sheet. That's what counts. Was Rhodes pen miss as bad as they are saying? Wasn't the WBA one a dismal one too? Let's pop him off Penalties.
